What controls landing/taxilight brightness at dusk

Recommended Posts

My landing/taxilights at dusk do not cast any light.  They work fine once it's completely dark.  Can someone tell me how to adjust this?

Thanks!

At dusk/dawn you also won’t see runway and taxilighting.

From a certain darkness everything starts to work.

Some developers like FlyTampa have an option in their config tool to check so  runway and taxiway lights will be on always.

Hi Gerard,

I was talking about the landing light and taxi light on the airplane.  At dusk they don't seem to cast any light and it's hard to see where I'm going.  At night they illuminate the ground nicely.

Hi Gregg,

As I am using Prosim and it’s flightmodel I cannot check your issue.

I do have working Lighting at dawn and dusk which shine on the runway and taxiways.

regards,

Gerard

Puzzled what it could be.

I see the same issue during dusk/dawn. The landing and taxi lights are on but very dim in lighting the  ground. I noticed it while flying my A2A Cessna 172. I am running P3D3.4 and PTA .  I opened this thread at A2A. http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=108&t=60111&p=463167#p463167

Hi Folks,

Yeah - landing lights seem to be a serious weak point in our sims - none seem to illuminate the runway at night similar to what you would see in an aircraft - most don't seem to be visible from the cockpit in total darkness until in your flare or after touchdown - kind of defeats the purpose... Certainly an area that could stand some improvement...

Scott

In my case, this is the Turbine Duke which has pretty decent lights.  It looks like, to me, that there's a timing issue.  When it's dusk they don't shine on the ground but when gets black they show quite well.  I haven't tried it with any other aircraft yet.  I don't know which shader would be changing them...which would tell me where to look.

I recognize this isn't really a PTA thing, but can't some landing light "textures" be edited to make them brighter / larger?  I just don't know how to find that texture for certain airplanes, for example, the Carenado A36 which is "stock" P3Dv4.
