Bernt Stolle FDE - removed from carenado website

Then why isn't it offered in a patch for the X-Plane 11 version?

X-Plane calculates flight dynamics in a completely different way than FSX or P3D. An FDE file can’t be used with any X-Plane aircraft.

Thanks for the informative answer Jim

and the EX version has the Bernt FDE already build in at release from what I've read. I can't understand why Carenado didn't just update their installer to include it in the HD version if that's the case.

Good question. Main reason is most likely the work involved. They would need to re-package the 208 and re-send it to all other sellers.

Another reason is the question you asked; What does the patch do? 90% of the customers don't know how a 208 flies and how a simulated 208 should fly and they are happy with the way it is.

Would someone be so kind to explain what exactly Bernt's patch does because If I didn't notice the patch I probably wouldn't have noticed any difference.

See my above post 😉

The most noticeable difference for non RL 208 pilots is the lack of simulated propeller drag.  The original FDE uses  invisible spoilers which suddenly extend at idle to compensate for the lack of drag while the new FDE correctly simulates this drag and it happens totally smooth since drag increases with decreasing power settings.
