Is my system ok for P3d v4?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I have a jetline systems computer I purchased in 2016 and currently run v3.3 which runs well. I get low to mid teen fps with certain overcast conditions with REX enhanced  but otherwise no issues. I am looking to upgrade to v4 and was curious of my current set up can handle it ok? I fly mostly PMDG NGX over megascenery but to use orbx global and vector at times as well.

Win 7 64bit

Intel 4th Gen icore 7 4790 (was overclocked to 4.6ghz but I returned to stock cuz I was having issues)

8GB Hyper X DDR3 SDRAM 2133mhz

4GB Nvidia Geforce GTX 970

Thank you for your time

Dave

Hi Dave, you system will run it fine. If you don't want to upgrade components, I would recommend that you try and find a stable overclock for your 4790 as that will make a significant difference in performance (the CPU will become a bottleneck for your 970...).

Dave, asking for opinions here is fine but the definitive answer is the LM P3D System Requirements at their website: https://www.prepar3d.com/system-requirements/

My Win7 4790K ran P3D fine..., you will need to balance performance and quality.  I have my 4790K in a stable OC, but each build is different.  You might want to take advantage at least of the stock 4.4 GHz turbo options.  I am still using my 980Ti with very good results.

I run a 4770K (OC 4.4GHz) with a 980TI SLI. P3dv4.1 runs really well for me. As Dan mentioned "you will need to balance performance and quality" is key.

Fly safe
