How to open bmp texture files?

Recommended Posts

Hi repainters,

yesterday I took the benefit of the discount sales with Carenado to buy 5 extra aircrafts. I always make a repaint of an existing livery. Changing colors, adding decals, add my own registration  etc. I use Photoshop CC (always the latest version) . With most aircraft textures there are dds-files to be found in the texture files. Not with 4 out of 5 this time. Only the Cessna 337 Skymaster HD has those files included. The 4 others have al bmp files in the existing liveries. I can't open these to work with them. Not in PS, paint, photos, Paint 3D.

Can somebody give some advice on how to open these files so I can edit the liveries to my liking.

Other aircrafts purchased:    C90 King Air,     C185F bush, float, amphibian,     C208B Grand Caravan,     Piper PA28 Archer II

Hoping for a possitive reply, in the meantime

kind regards,

Eddy Vandenberghe, Holland

Find a free copy of Image Tool.exe..

You may have it in your SDK files.

These bmps are compressed, and Image Tool can open them, and later be used to compress again.

Hello Bert / Mark,

once again I didn't get a notification that there where replies on my post. So a postpopned reply from me once again, sorry. I see what I can do with your information and will inform you if I succeeded.

Thanks again for the help.

Bert: bedankt voor de info vanuit een ondergesneeuwd Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. 15 Cm wat uitzonderlijk is voor hier, maar in Canada zullen ze wel meer gewend zijn denk ik  ! :-)

greetz,

Eddy

You should have seen a notification when you clicked on the Notification Bell in the upper right corner.  You do not have it set up to have a notification to your e-mail address for new content.  Just under the bell notification area above only.  If you have your sound turned on, it should make a noise indicating a new notification when you first logon or while visiting AVSIM.

Best regards,

Jim

Hello Jim, (was it for you that Canadian singer Paul Anka wrote the song "Hello Jim" ? I guess not  )

thanks for the info. I saw the notification under the bell, but in the settings I assumed that the possibility to "One email per day with all new content from that day" was an email containing ALL new posts/replies of that day, and that is why I didn't choose this option. Maybe it is, I will see because, I did change my preferences in the settings now.

Thanks again,

regards,

Eddy

Hi Mark,

a bit of a postponed reply (holidays you know- by the way all the best for 2018 to all who read this reply!) but I found the free DXTBmp package and it works very well. Problem solved ! Thanks.
