Jo Erlend Sund's EDDK preview - WOW!

This is a great airport. But I found two issues. Turn rain weather on and go in the terminal. It rains in the terminal.lol.  Same with snow. Also, when you put snow on it doesn't do anything to the tarmac like the rain does. These should be obvious fixes.

I'm guessing it's not quite that easy to have FSX or P3D exclude areas from a rain effect, sceneries such as this are doing things the original program was never really designed to cater for.

I bet if you take a look, it probably rains underneath your aeroplane wings in the sim too, whereas in reality standing at the wing root in the gear bay of a Boeing 737 is a great place to shelter from the rain and if you do that on an A320, you get a nice hot blast from one of the exhaust ports too, which is great for warming your hands. Will probably be doing exactly that later on this evening. 🙂

Back with this scenery though, I'm really not sure how they've managed to pull it off, but the frame rates are really impressive considering the level of detail it is portraying; there are a ton of reflective surfaces all over the place, with solar panels on the roofs of terminal buildings and loads of glass on the front of those buildings with animated people visible inside, people on the ramps, nice little details such as revolving doors going round on terminal building entrances, custom ground traffic buzzing about, loads of ramp clutter - which is very accurately modeled for a change - phototerrain around the adjacent landscape with custom buildings on that etc, etc. To be fair, the optional static aircraft are fairly low res and low poly, but I didn't use them anyway. I was using Traffic Global and GSX with some serious payware airliners and it was handling it all no problem at all.

It's definitely one of the best sceneries I've got as far as detail combined with performance is concerned. Amazing bit of work and not a bad price either.

Why on earth would you want to go in the terminal when you are in the aircraft ?

You Slew your aircraft inside the terminal ?

😂

Selfish person you are! Don't you care for those poor souls who will be entering your plane. Instead of nice and dry they come in all miserable and wet!😆

Hahahaha

It’s a budget airlines airport so what did you expect ?

Let them take an umbrella with them...

It’s not a luxury airport like Frankfurt...

I’m just annoyed because when I was eating my overpriced burger and fries in the Terminal the rain wrecked my food.

1st update available for this gorgeous scenery through Aerosoft updater 😉

  • Adjusted runway tire mark texture.
  • Fixed incorrect Taxiway designation sign A3.
  • Fixed incorrect ILS frequency RWY32R.
  • Added missing information text in the configuration tool.
  • Updated optional SODE download with correct ILS frequency (RWY32R)

And yes, this is the BEST scenery I've ever installed.
A real and true masterpiece.

If you get P3D failing to start after updating to 1.0.1.0 see below:

t's not EDDK itself. I just spent an hour this morning with the issue with version 1.0.1.0. Turns out the EDDK installer also installs another program without your knowledge which has to be some sort of data violation. Going to my ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 folder and looking in the exe.xml and guess what is there (look below). It's their updater I presume. Was installed last night when I installed EDDK. I set it from  <Disabled>False</Disabled> to  <Disabled>True</Disabled> and now P3D starts just fine. I absolutely DETEST that Aerosoft installed this on my computer without my knowledge.

<SimBase.Document Type="AceXML" version="3,0" id="exe">

EDDK looks amazing.
Now that sceneries can have puddles and raindrops. Could accumulating snow be in the future?

Sadly something is wrong in my case: while flying off this wonderful scenery works as intended, I so far never managed to land. Three flights, all on ILS14, crashed the sim just before turning into final. Bam, P3D stuck for several seconds, then CTD. What a pity...

😵 amazing is what i have to say . Never have i  , an airport visit  with this kind of work . (night time with FTX GERMANY North and South)

Seems like SLI GTX1080ti or better will become the new platform.

Btw.

Anyone having snow effect and Dynamic lighting issues ? . I am using FSFX and my fps sometimes drop to half or worse when snowing in night time with DL. Tried alot about settings but cant seem to get it right.

Thanks

Incredible support from Jo Erlend Sund.

2-3 updates since release. In less than what? 2 weeks!

He has definitely risen the bar for customer care.
