Latinvfr Miami v4 or DD Miami City X?

Recommended Posts

I already have DD Miami City X for P3D v4 and think it's pretty ugly looking with the blurry photo textures around the city. Latinvfr just came out with their v4 of Miami and was curious to know which one you guys think is better?

I believe Latinvfr Miami is just the airport.  Correct me if I am wrong.  I use it with DD Miami City X with no problem.

It's not just the airport, v4 has included 80sq miles of scenery around Dowtown Miami, and also includes Miami's downtown buildings as well. I don't think you can mix the 2 together. It may conflict.

Maybe possible if they 've included a configuration menu enabling the user to disable the city but other than that your right it's one or the other.

Just like with LatinVFR KSEA and SeattleX, LatinVFR KMIA and MiamiX work together.  Just place MiamiX on top.  I have LatinVFR KMIAv4 installed but use just the airport.  I saw a video in the AVSIM Video Forum of a landing using LatinVFR4 only and Miami did not look purty.  But, the individual who provided the video might have had low settings.  I have my mesh resolution set at 38M and enjoying MiamiX with LatinVFR.  I have a powerful system though with an i7 7700K OC'd to 4.5GHz and GTX1080TI.  I also have a 34" monitor.  Drzwiecski did an excellent job with Miami (IMHO).  LatinVFR did an awesome job with KMIA too!

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Folks,

While I don't have Miami - I'm pretty happy with LatinVFR as a developer...

Key West is probably my most frequented airport in Flight Sim... Southwest Florida, San Diego, and Raleigh-Durham are all well done as well...

Scott

I own both products.   KMIAv4 brings the entire downtown area to life.  DD's city depiction takes longer to draw, even on a fast system like mine.  For now, I deactivated DD since Latin VFR did a great job with the city.  I asked DD a while back if they would consider optimizing textures for Miami City like they did for NYC.   If DD does that, I will pay for the upgrade.  DD is  one of my favorite developers.   Here are two videos.  The first shows DD Miami with LatinVFR KMIAv3, and the second is LatinVFR KMIAv4 with DD deactivated.  Note that with KMIAv4, there is a defect that shows building on water in Miami Beach.  I hope they can fix that.  I have ORBX, Global, Vector, and OLC, and never saw that.

As you can clearly see in the videos, Miami X is more detailed than LVFR KMIA v4.  I stated above that one should install Miami X above LVFR's KMIA.  I now recommend placing Miami X below LVFR KMIA so that the additional and detailed scenery (i.e., the hotels, etc., on the islands between the Atlantic and the main downtown area).  LVFR's KMIA will replace some buildings provided by Miami X and you have a more complete rendition of the area.  Of course, if your computer cannot handle both sceneries, then one or the other is advised.  LVFR did an outstanding job with the airport and some of the scenery around the airport but the downtown Miami area is lacking (which is okay if you have Miami X).

I'm confused. You recommended at first to place DD Miami X above LatinVFR's Miami and now you said to put it below. Which one is it?

I'm noticing strange yellow round lights bouncing up and down when loading up the scenery. Not sure what the cause of this is. Does DD Miami X include its own version of KMIA that could be conflicting with LatinVFR's KMIA? Right now I have DD Miami X below LatinVFR's KMIA.

Your second video shows land/water problems at Miami Beach that I also had..

They were caused by a defective Orbx NA LC file.

Orbx said they initially shipped a defective set of files and recommended a reinstall of NA LC.

I was doubtful, but it did fix the problem

Please do not get mad at me for confusing you!!!  Didn't I state I stated earlier to place Miami X above LVFR Miami and then later (after I did some testing), to place LVFR KMIA over Miami X?  Didn't I?  You even quoted it?  Are you trying to chew me out for changing my mind?  Huh?  If you are still confused, take a deep breath and read my comments again.  I cannot believe you just said you are confused.  Probably a foreign language issue.
