Have you returned to 4.0 from 4.1?

Recommended Posts

Hi all;

I'm currently doing a fresh install of 4.0 after experiencing significant drops in frames and sliders with 4.1. Just wondering if anyone else has gone back to 4.0? I just can't get to where the sim was in 4.0 with 4.1. Just need to make sure I wasn't dreaming with 4.0.

Matt, not sure why you've experienced performance issues with 4.1 but I am positive it is not the sim. Without knowing what you've installed, break it down some and try sliding your settings to the left and slowly increase - just to see what is affecting your performance. 4.1 is pretty much the same, performance-wise as 4.0.

I personally haven’t, as I have not noticed any performance decrease. Are you sure nothing changed in your settings or addons? Maybe an autogen Linder was increased or the test scenario was overcast on 4.1 and clear on 4.0?

Most posts I have read and my own experience is that 4.1 is an improvement. If you are having serious performance issues, look closely at your system, addons, background processes, etc.

I'm running most FTX NA stuff. Maybe the update to 4.1 didn't agree with all my add-ons is the only thing I can think of. I will try a fresh install of 4.1 and then install add ons on top to see if that helps. Fresh install of win 10 done since comp is used mainly for sim. In 4.0 I could run most settings near max; will try 4.1 fresh. Thanks

Uninstall and reinstall p3d client

Delete p3d cfg

Delete Shaders

Reboot

Reinstall client

Start sim

Done

I had issues with fps drop after win 10 update

All good now

Matt,

Make sure your CPU isn't power throttling. Mine was after the last Win 10 update. Microsoft had implemented new power saving facilities, and my CPU was throttling right back which dropped my frame rates drastically.

Oh, power saving; maybe. Processor power management? With the new OS install min is 5%, max is 100%. Should the 5% be changed? Well, anyway it seems my previous uninstall of p3d didn't go to well so awaiting reactivation.
