question to i7-7700k users - what is your max core temp during flight ?

Recommended Posts

I have a question to i7-7700k users. Could you please tell me what temperatures you have during the flight? Please also tell if you have your CPU overclocked and what cooler you have on board.

When I stress my not overclocked i7-7700k by CPU-Z software it gets ~65 deg C max. However when I run P3D v4.1 it has around 80-85 (peak) deg C during whole flight.
It's still below safe temp of 100 deg C but in spite of all I think it's too high.

When I overclocked it to 4.9 GHz I've noticed that the temperature increased to 90-95 (peak) deg C. I think I should consider better cooler for sure, however on the other hand I read some articles with the conclusion that i7-7700k has the well-known overheating issue.

So how it looks on your side?

Hi...

My 7700K is still in its packaging along with my Z270 mobo...

That said - yeah - 90 to 95 sounds a bit high for my liking...

On my 2700K@4.7Ghz on a Noctua - I'm running 80 to 84 under full load for five years without any adverse affects... I don't think I'd go much hotter...

Also - posting to bookmark as I'll be setting the aforementioned 7700K up in the very near future...

Regards,
Scott

I have my 7700K OC to 4.8. Watercooling NZXT Kraken X52. Max temp I have seen is around 80C.

Don't know if this is any help, cus I don't have P3D installed at the moment.  I'm 4.9 OC, with corsair H110-I radiator cpu cooler. I did a stress cpu multi thread (8) with cpuz.  Never got over 74 degrees.  I ran DCS over heavy scenery in Vegas, got up to 64 degrees.  At rest 30 dgrees.  I'm not much of a computer guy, so I hope this helps.

7700k OCd to 4.8, HT is on. I have a cheap H55 cooler but I replaced the fan with a Noctau A14 3000 industrial and set a profile to wind out the fan as temps rise. It can get a bit noisy when simming, but my speakers are drown out the fan and temps never exceed 75C.

Way too high, 80 deg without OC means that you have a cooling problem.

Check you have applied a good thermal paste, I would recommend replacing it with thermal grizzly.

Also check your fans are operating properly and that you have applied the correct pressure between your Fan cooler and your CPU.

I agree with simbol - if you're getting temps that high without clocking, your thermal solution is not working properly.

OC'd at 4.7 temps are running in the high 70's with heavy use. I have a good  big case - Thermaltake Core V71 Case, big fans two in front,  1 in back plus a Corsair H100i v2 liquid cooler on the top. Lot's of air flow. With not OC'd you've got ventilation issues and heat issues  and your OC'd is too high. You don't say what kind of case you have or cooler. Do you have a fan on your PSU? Does your card have one or two fans. They're blowing warm air into your case and so ventilation is crucial.

OC to 4.8 GHz on high-end air.  See about 70-80C under load with P3D.  Didn’t get that great of a chip in the silicon lottery.  Very occasional spike to 82-84 but have tweaked BIOS and P3D settings to stay under 85C.

One core can reach 101c.  Not worried as these babies can run way above that.  Just like the space shuttle tiles.

According to Intel specs the Tjunction on the 7700 is 100C - that is MAX and it will considerably shorten the life of your CPU if you run it up there for any length of time. Heat is what destroys CPU's so anything you can do to keep the temps down will be better for the CPU. Not to mention that most will throttle down when temps get close to Tjunction so you also lose performance.

Just because the CPU doesn't explode when you get it that hot doesn't mean it is ok.

For a margin of safety on the 7700k I would recommend temps no higher than 85C for any extended use.

My system with a delidded CPU at 5ghz runs stress tests maxed around 60. During flight around 55C
