Pilot2ATC not connecting correctly.

Hi

I have this problem with 2.4.0.3. Connect button does not lite, the aircraft icon does not appear into the map. I get "Simulator Connected, Recognition Engine Istalled and Grammars Loated" texts to right side.

When I press "Center to Aircraft" button, it goes to right area, but not to airport, or aircraft. Tested in Shangi Singapore and in Memphis airports.

Log file says "Error in XPWeather DecodMETARString", I use xEnviro and a Networked installation, P2ATC runs on my laptop, simulator on desktop.

All worked fine in 2.4.0.2 version.

There may be a bug in the Weather code that's causing a problem.

Will be posting 2.4.0.3R2 in a few minutes that might fix this.

The fix did not help, still having same issue. Checked time and date settings on both computers they were OK.

Thanks for the report.  Should help chase down the additional bug.

What setting do you have for Weather Source?

Try changing to NOAA to see if that avoids the problem for now.

Hello.

I just did a test flight to practise take offs, I left Pilot2ATC open for a moving map, I did not notice when it happened, but P2ATC had connected during the flight, plane icon was wisible and connect button was lit. When I was in the KMEM airport it was not so.

Sounds like you have a long delay in something like downloading the weather the first time or calculating runways etc for airport setups.

Could also be something running in the background when you start your computer that finishes and then lets P2A operate normally.

Thanks Dave for replays, i´we been doing some testing myself too. It looks like the issue has something to do with xEnviro. When I switch to X-Planes own real weather, everything works, when I use xEnviro P2ATC does the same thing, but when I connect P2ATC, with X-Planes weather and then switch to xEnviro, everything works. I will try to fly a longer route tomorrow, let´s see what happens. Quite intresting "bug" I have here

Hi Dave if this is a bug I might be affected also, What happens to me is if i start P2atc with the sim on and then something happens to the sim and I have to turn off p2atc when I restart p2atc it will no longer connect, Even if i restart the program. The only way i can get it to work again is i have to actually restart my whole pc.

I have some problems like that lastly and i wonder if it's not related to some conflict with left traces of p2a 32 bits on my computer inspite of the fact that i used revo uninstaller to get rid of the traces .

I said that because after having installed 64 bits version, i heard two voices for ATIS (not xplane atc ofcourse , but two TTS voices) , and also i could not    change voices and volume of arrival tower (like if p2a still using settings i used in 32bits p2a) . 

i've just removed with revo uninstaller once again p2a and i'm waiting a major update to do more tests .

The two voices occurs if X-plane sound for radio is turned up and Pilot2ATC option to provide ATIS is enabled.  I like to have Pilot2ATC read it to me using my purchased voices.  The solution is to go into X plane settings, sound tab and set radio volume slider to the left at 0.  Now you will only hear one voice.

I don't know what Revo and I really doubt it is needed since Pilot2ATC I don't believe uses any registry entries same as X plane.

I highly recommend using the website full installer to get to 2403 and then the update to raise it to 2403r3.  This latest release resolves a lot of problems with connecting to the simulator due to issues with weather.

It is the best place to start the hunt for new problems.

thx ! ATIS xplane was not off with ATC of xplane unchecked .

weather still very long (one/two minutes to connect) but i forget to say it's worth the waiting : i wanted to start my last VFR flight without waiting the end of the connection , but it was impossible .... so empty, so boring,without all the ATC procedures for taxi and take off . 

P2A is a great app !!

Dave posted in here somewhere about the double ATIS voices.  Yes, I thought the same thing with ATC unchecked.  Radio volume works great.

If you aren't 2404 then I suggest upgrade.

What are you using for weather in Pilot2ATC?   If using NOAA with a flight plan loaded normal connect time is 17 seconds.  If in the minute range then something is likely running in the background like MS updates, virus scan, file history etc.  I have never flown VFR, the last time I tried Pilot2ATC just would return to IFR and haven't tried since.  Using SIM Pilot2ATC weather is the fastest connect time under 10 seconds.  However, you MUST have X plane up running with plane loaded other Pilot2ATC will reconfigure for NOAA.

I know once you flown with Pilot2ATC I can't even be bothered getting in a plane except for cold start procedure training.  Add to this the support for voices for the controllers and the ATC Chatter it feels like the real thing and just keeps getting better. 

Dave how about adding some humor to the communication once in a while?  While listening to the ATC Chatter I find the communication much less formal than Pilot2ATC.
