ORBX PNW, NC, SC in combination with Vector, Payware Airport (FSDT/FB/FT) and 100% AI Traffic

Recommended Posts

As ORBX still has hefty discounts, I'm consider buying some of their NA regions, however I'm wondering what FPS impact would be especially in such scenery/traffic dense areas as KSEA/KSFO/KLAX/KSAN. With FTX Global/Vector, OpenLC USA, REX, ASA2016, custom-made 100% AI, I have pretty much stable 25FPS from the NGX VC while approaching either KSFO 28L/R or KLAX 24/25'th with ~100 AI in a vicinity. What would happen if I add either NoCal or SoCal on a top of these? Or should IFR heavy-metals flyers stay away from the regions, leaving them for VFR folks?

Testimonies are welcome.

Thanks

Dmitriu

That would really be a heavy load to bear in fps.  I would only try it with P3D v4.1 which is 64 bit.  Any thing else would probable give you a CTD pretty quick.

Well...I successfully running FTX Australia with FT Sydney and ORBX Melbourne. Meanwhile, I realize that FTX Australia is ORBX's first "region" and US regions have more details and polygons.

I have that same list of products, but I never run AI traffic over 5%.   Guess I'm a bit of a loner.

I'm on a NVIDIA 1050ti, 24 GB system RAM, an SSD, Windows 10....but....the main system (CPU 3.0 GHZ / Motherboard) is approaching 9 years old....so take my input with a grain of salt but when on approach to some airports I've seen the frame rate fall to 8 FPS.  Yeah it bites, gonna build a new rig w/ the tax refund in a couple of months though.

My guess is that the ORBX "Region" isn't going to hit you that hard - at least I never noticed they did but I've heard Southern California (which I also have) can be a bit tough.  But your system seems to be doing all the heavy lifting as it is, adding a region shouldn't send your rates into the gutter.

Wish I could give you more specifics, but all systems are different and everyone runs a different set of slider settings.

Good Luck!

Mark

Keep in mind that with any FTX region, that essentially any FTX Global/Vector, OpenLC product underneath is not used. I run all of the FTX regions with custom AI and AS4 as well and it performs well in P3d V4x. I find that it's gnarly weather and a heavy AI load (250++ and up) that really hits you in the face performance wise.

Looks good, Louis.

Would you mind to post your P3D settings, especially LOD and level of AG (both VEG and BUILD)

Thanks

I'm doing a fresh install of P3D 3.4x, I predominantly fly the ultra-easy on performance Majestic Q400, and after installing the lovely KSAN HD from ORBX, and FSDT's KSFO II, ended up having to turn both NCA and SCA off and just use global only w/ OpenLC when involved w/ these high end airports in California.   When I do this I get perfectly smooth flights always staying at 30fps w/ vsync at 1/2 refresh.  In reality visuals are quite excellent anyway, but I miss being able to take off from for example KSBA w/ its visual enhancements that are a part of FTX SCA.  Once in the air I don't miss it, and KSAN and KSFO II are so good it's worth it.   When flying the Q400 to the default airports in NCA or SCA I am able to run these sceneries no problem, or when flying into smaller enhanced airports like FTX KRDD or even KPSP I can also keep the FTX regions active.  3930K@4.42Ghz, GTX Titan original.

SoCal just crushes perf.  Norcal is better on my rig.  I have FB SFO, LVFR SAN/SNA. FSDT LAX/LAS

approach to LAX on Pilot Edge (online, not with 100% ai traffic, gets me about 15 fps in the xtreme prototypes Lear 25).  I have medium-high settings in P3D v4

I have a 6700k @ 5.0 and a 1080ti with a slight overclock. I run 4K so I dont need the higher AA settings.

Orbx Vector and openLC  with norcal,  Flightbeam KSFO, UTL airline traffic at 100% and I get about 26 FPS in TFDI 717.
