Which anti-virus do you use?

I've had Advance System Care for the past two years.It has the virus protection, Driver booster, De-frag, and a number of other tools. My subscription is about up. Before I renew I'm wondering what you guys are using. I want something that is light on the system. I not only use the computer for FSX SE, and PREPARED v4 but also some internet use. Two porn sites that haven't given me problems in the past, and they are visited maybe once every two months. Let me know what you think, what your set-up is. Thanks

Thank you Pete for your reply. You are well respected for your advice. When you say MSE, is that referring to Defender? What do you do to keep up with your drivers?

havnt updated  my  drivers  at all  for  a long  time,  since  havnt  had  any issues  and  cant  see  why,  dont  break  anything  unless  some  thing  is  wrong  is  my  motto

Excellent topic! I am using bitdefender and am fed up of it taking control of everything I want to run, including deleting shortcuts and executables. I also looked at the topic from PMDG support (Kyle, I believe) writing about only running defender. I will probably give this a try once my subscription runs out. Apparently also need to install an anti-malware program (also freeware).

Using Windows Defender (Windows 10) and MalwareBytes Premium.  Malware Bytes lets you know what it is blocking on the fly, and it stays very active...  Would not go online without it.

None! anti virus/malware programs that are always running and have live scans or similar functionalities are more a source of problems than benefits in any gaming/flight simulator computer, they decrease your pc performance, they put a lot of false positives in your program/tools, they can ruin a simulator installation...as for any firewall. If you know what you are doing you dont need any of it at all.

Of course this my opinion for a gaming/flight simulator computer not for a general use computer, when you open and visit a lot of potential malware programs and sites.

I dont have any protection on my gaming/flight simulator computers for years now with zero problems, the only 2 things i use are malwarebytes, that i run weekly just to ensure that everything is clean, and sandboxie when opening some program that im not sure of its source, a random look on the windows processes that are running using process explorer is also a good habit.

I've used Bitdefender for a number of years and have never experienced any of these problems! In fact I would recommend it highly. In its game mode I've found it to have no noticeable effect on performance and it always does well in comparative tests. With regards to false positives, I've had two in the four years I've been using Bitdefender. Both were quickly updated by the developer when I reported them.

For some good information, AV-Comparatives is a well-respected anti-virus test site: https://www.av-comparatives.org. Whilst the default Windows Defender does quite well at stopping viruses, it has one of the biggest hits on system performance.

I use Defender with Windows 10 and once a month run MalwareBytes.  Never had any malware issues... at least none that I know of
