I can't resist Captain Sim's aircraft.  I've been buying them for years. I decided to try this one too because I've missed the 757 in P3Dv4.  I look forward to trying it out.  I hope it flies as good as it looks.  I'll be happy with that because it sure is looking good.

Per their own press, unlike the previous one it is going to be a PMDG level simulation which would command a PMDG level price....

I'll wait personally. I learned my lesson with the BBox A330/340. Still waiting for TFDi to finish the 717.....

TFDI bird is amazing and has regular updates! Don't even try and compare it to the BBox airbuses. Even the likes of PMDG gets a number of updates every year so I guess they are never really finished either!

I think we have to assume that the vast majority of people posting are simply giving their opinion.  If someone is an airline pro, they will usually say that when they post.

Everyone's opinion is valuable as a hobbyist. That's why we have a forum like Avsim that represents the hobby of flight simulation.  There is no reason to imply that because someone isn't an airline professional, their opinion is not valued.

Everyone can say what they like or dislike about a sim addon. If someone says that an aircraft flies realistically that just means that it feels and flies the way that person would assume it is supposed to.

I appreciate Alcides providing his first impression of the aircraft very much. I'm sure many others do too.

Thank you,

Bob

Including the PMDG defenders of the faith..  But since they all sing the same tune, perhaps they should stick to their sandbox.

The PMDG 737 package is around that 75 dollar price point.

Not for P3D - and this is the P3D price for captainsim. (And the P3D forum etc)

edit: but I'll give you that it is a lot cheaper than their T7.  (However I used the T7 as a compare because the 757/76/77 are more closely related). I'm surprised the 737 is 45 dollars cheaper than the T7 and it comes with a HGS!

overall, I just can't part with the cash for the pmdg P3D products...  too much for an addon.  The 757 is a fast airliner - although I don't think the PW version is as fast as the RR so maybe by the time I get that I will be in to 737 prices :(

I am in agreement it is expensive. Last January I bought the 777 for p3d license (I have every PMDG airplane ever made for fs9/fsx) and this month I hope I can afford the 737. Maybe next Jan. I'll be able to afford the 747!

I am missing a freighter 757 but I never felt Captainsim could deliver realism even close to PMDG. Maybe Level-D comes out this summer or something.

Okay but do not make claims like it is realistic, close to PMDG level, if you are not an expert to make comparisons on the actual aircraft. If somebody is going to make realism claims I am going to ask their credentials.

We are quite the fickle bunch on any product release.

Ive seen quite a few number of great first impressions. Quite favorable. Certainly outnumbers any negative by far.

Perhaps the best way to judge your decision, is having a look at the bug reports list. Sure its early, but even then there is not a lot of big glaring issues outstanding that I can see.

Think I am going to pull the trigger on this.

PMDG is the standard for Boeings that all addons get compared to. If Captainsim made an Airbus people would be asking for a comparison to FsLabs like they did the Flight Factor.  If your addon cannot compare in realism don't go around making claims about accuracy unless you can handle somebody such as myself pointing this out.

@HighTowers

if you do tell me about the 2d cockpit instruments that I read in those big reports.  I guess the manual writes about them and says they will not be changed to 3D.  A user wrote that fps seem lower with the gauges than the simulation.

So do you notice this?  Are they still very clear and readable at farther zoom levels?

How do we start this plane in Cold and Dark in the airport, variant, and livery that we want? The Save file method is so limited you cant even choose the livery and engine variant that you want.

Kind of odd that a $75 plane doesn't even have a Panel state save/load feature.

Well it is a open beta release, the product is not completed yet so it doesn't mean it cannot have this feature in the future.

Personally I will wait until the full release to consider if I will buy this model or not.
