CaptainSim 757 Released!

Well it is a open beta release, the product is not completed yet so it doesn't mean it cannot have this feature in the future.

Personally I will wait until the full release to consider if I will buy this model or not.

Regards,

Simbol

Yup! Hope they add it in the future. It is a great aircraft at this point. It just needs a few more bug fixes and convenience features like the panel states. I consider it above the Aerosoft CRJ at this point.

Well given the stick the CRJ got and still gets, 9 pagers in and the CS seems to be holding up well to the AVSIM boys

Can the aircraft track and maintain a LNAV/VNAV path?   Does the CDU/FMC work well ?  Does the MCP work well

Let's start there.  If it can't do that, it's pointless.

Answered by a few posters on the previous page; currently, it appears all the features you referenced work.

@777200lrf I am comparing it to the aircraft I have in my hangar. Thus why I said. TFDI/PMDG feel. Most people that gave those planes understand that.

Please stop attacking people because you wouldn’t buy it. I’m giving my views on a product I purchased for people that might purchase it in the future.

That's not a beta then; if there are features missing it's an alpha and has been mis-sold. Software should have a "feature freeze" before going beta.

How do we start this plane in Cold and Dark in the airport, variant, and livery that we want? The Save file method is so limited you cant even choose the livery and engine variant that you want.

Kind of odd that a $75 plane doesn't even have a Panel state save/load feature.

The save file method is the only way currently as clearly stated on the forums and in the manual. Several users have stated it would be nice to have a cold and dark in the FMC option.

PMDG is the standard for Boeings that all addons get compared to. If Captainsim made an Airbus people would be asking for a comparison to FsLabs like they did the Flight Factor.  If your addon cannot compare in realism don't go around making claims about accuracy unless you can handle somebody such as myself pointing this out.

Hi Folks,

With one big caveat - negative PMDG posts are deleted around here...

Based on the reports in this thread from the early early adopters (thanks guys!) and the lack of show stopping bugs in their forum, I went ahead and bought this.

Did my first flight last night, ATL-MSP and I’m quite impressed.  This is a well functioning aircraft, I have only really noticed two things I would classify as bugs, and both are very minor and easily fixable: on the winglet model, the strobe lights are slightly out of place and for some reason, the red beacon alternates a white and red flash on top.  Again, very easy fixes.

I was able to do a full start up and do the flight with everything functioning as expected.  LNAV, VNAV, FMC programming, everything works.  Hand flying feels good (before anyone jumps on me I’m not a real pilot but it feels as I would expect it to).

The only thing that is annoying is that you can’t load panel states from within the sim.  To me that is unacceptable for a $75 aircraft.  Hopefully this will be added.

Honestly I think Captainsim sold themselves a bit short by calling it an open beta, this to me is in line with most RTM releases.  Or perhaps this is what an open beta really should be about, finding any final bugs that only turn up once the plane is released to a wider audience.

Overall I’m quite happy.  I may get lit on fire for this, but I think the negativity on this forum from those who haven’t flown the plane is unwarranted.  It really looks like Captainsim has turned over a new leaf with this release.

@HighTowers

if you do tell me about the 2d cockpit instruments that I read in those big reports.  I guess the manual writes about them and says they will not be changed to 3D.  A user wrote that fps seem lower with the gauges than the simulation.

So do you notice this?  Are they still very clear and readable at farther zoom levels?

I saw that too, I’m not really sure what the issue is.  Gauges are clear and readable and look fine to me.

My two cents.

I expect this would be considered as future feature, it’s not something that was planned for this release, so to call this an alpha is incorrect.

attacking you?

System depth is good

if you say that, it's not an attack if I ask your qualifications for making this statement and to expand on your examples of the reasons system depth is "good"

Every time Captainsim releases a product certain people flood the forums to post positive comments and attack anybody that questions them.

I see negative comments about PMDG in this topic. They are still here. Like I said, the same people come out to insult another developer in support of a released addon. Usually iFly or Captainsim.

Thanks for your feedback Dave. I have always loved the 757 its now gone on my "Am thinking about it list". Given CS history this 757 seems a big forward step.

Hi...

I have no dog in this fight - I'm primarily a GA guy but I have personally seen threads with negative PMDG comments - not merely locked - outright deleted... This was in the P3D forum and not the proprietary PMDG forum... It certainly makes me skeptical of all things PMDG...

Scott

To @ 777200ltf

Firstly, who are you ? - how about a real name.

Secondly, what are YOUR expert qualifications that allows you to be so challenging?
