FSX, SkyForce and ASN

Recommended Posts

A few random screenshots (completely unretouched) from today's flight between YBCG (Coolangatta) and YBCS (Cairns) and the FSLabs A320.

I started the flight using the REX weather engine included in Skyforce but kept running into the .net issue. Also, from my experience from my first test (yesterday) wih Skyforce, the weather injections and redraws were painfully abrupt and jarring. Tested the same flight (LFMN to EGKK) with ASN and Skyforce and the resulting weather was much smoother during updates.

For now (until the REX team sorts the issues with the built-in engine) I will be using Skyforce and ASN.

Some of the CBs departing Coolangatta were quite intimidating to look at and if one combined them with the OPUS FSI camera and the FSLabs soundset for the A320 the result was not for the faint-hearted

Hi John,

yes, I too was surprised to see the old warhorse still managing to hold it's own. I had been using REX TD4 and Soft Clouds with the ASN engine but Skyforce seems to have added a whole new dimension to my weather in FSX. Now I just have to wait to see what Reed and Co. can come up with to improve the, frankly, terrible engine included with Skyforce. I'm surprised it still is incapable of the smooth transitions we have come to know and love with Active Sky (ASN, in my case). Their (REX) textures though, especially the new 3D ones are eye-wateringly good. Those towering CBs made my jaw drop.

Great shots of what SF can do.

The .net problem as I had it also. Just turn off windows defender. I thought mine was turned off anyway must of been an update. That sorts it.

Hi David, is this Win7 or 10? I run FSX in Win7.
