SkyForce / WEATHER ARCHITECT

Recommended Posts

Can someone please tell me what the difference is between these two weather engines? I know Sky Force has clouds included, but why have two?

You can't create your own in SkyForce? You would think they would come out with one good one

sky  force  is  dependant  on  the  weather  engine  you  using, where  as  wa  is  where  you make  your own weather  and  its  not  a weather  engine  at all  thats  the  difference( if  you would have  gone  to the  rex  site  it  would  have  told  you what it  does)

I7-800k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,    2  ssd 500gb 970 drive, gtx 1080ti Card,  RM850 power supply

First of all: these aren't weather engines, at least not similar to the ones we know (like Active Sky).

SkyForce is a cloud and sky texture addon with a simple (and not too good) weather engine added for those who don't have a real weather engine. It lacks historic weather or the option to create weather and it also lacks smooth redraws (after the real time update of weather). So it's not a weather engine with clouds included, it's a cloud addon with a weather engine included. Do NOT buy SkyForce for it's weather engine! It's like buying a car for it's glove department.

And Weather Architect is an addon with which you can create your own weather. (Did anyone actually buy this one...?) Do NOT buy Weather Architect if you want real time or historic weather like with Active Sky.

If you are looking for a weather engine, look elsewhere.

There's a lengthy post on the Avsim PREPARED Forum about the SkyForce Add-on that will go into detail and you can understand why you shouldn't purchase it as a weather engine.

I bought Weather Architect when it was published some years ago. Unfortunately, this was my worst investment in REX products. It missed several important features from the beginning and did never get an overhaul, probably due to low sale numbers. I cannot recommend this add-on.
