Updating FSX nav database

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have noticed when using my flight1 GTN complete that when I am  flying some ILS approaches when I break out of the clouds I find I am off to the side or the runway or the rwy numbers don't correspond with the gtn  . I was thinking of updating my nav database and mag var.. Question Do I use http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html or https://www.fsaerodata.com/  with the navigraph. Or is there a better solution. I am only looking for a one time update since the gtn's data is from 2016  I think. The other problem from what I gather is I use the built-in  fsx flight planner.  I normally have limited time and only usually have about an hour for flight time so I don't really  have a complicated flight plan. I do also occasionally look at the built in FSX map as well but not often.

Any thoughts?

Unfortunately there is no way of updating the FSX database (or P3D for that matter)  Navigraph and others will update add ons, but you are stuck with the runway numbers unless you are able to download 3rd party Airports.  When i have had the ILS problem you describe it's normally because i have two 3rd party airports installed EGLL for example i have the UK2000 version and ORBX makes changes as well, this pushes the ILS slope to be entirely wrong.  The other reason was because it does actual have an offset ILS, EGPB for example.

Woatan,

Thank you for your help. I have noticed  recently issues with ORBX and 3d party scenery.Normally after I plan my flight I then search  the hard drives for airports along my intended flight and if duplicate move then to another folder. Silly question then what do those sites update then?

Hervé's updates are for the default navaids, not just a specific set of FMCs. Read his FAQ, advantages and drawbacks are pretty well covered in there.

That is not entirely true... Herve's updates will also update the runway numbers at default airports
