Almost 20 Years of Graphical Progression

Recommended Posts

Thought i'd do something a bit different as a homage to my very first flight simulator, X-Plane 5. Released back in 1999, it's now been 19 years for me since i've started this wonderful hobby. 19 years is also quite some time between graphical advancements in gaming and I always enjoy seeing how technology progresses. Can you imagine how flight simulators will look in the year 2037?

Nice comparison pics. It seems that the graphical advantage of XP was already evident even 20 years ago? At least on those pics, it seems to look better and more realistic than FS98.

Nice pics, it wasn't until Xplane11 that I feel Xplane really came into its own.  The autogen improved, AC dynamics and quality improved, and landclass is still the best I think over P3D/FSX etc....  I could not get Xplane10 to work well on my old system, which met the RAM and VRAM specs (exceeded them).  Still I got OOM errors which FSX did not experience.  With the latest version I don't get any errors, and as evidenced in the video section of the forums, I get great results with the OrthoXP scenery I generated and I get nice results everywhere else (I only installed North America and Western Europe to save room for my photoscenery, which extends from North of Vancouver Canada, down the west coast, then it branches east in Southern California all the way to the New Mexico border with Texas.

Nice images!
But can you please indicate which ones are made in XP5 and which ones in XP11?
