FSEconomy = FS9 addiction with a twist.

Just what I need another way to feed my Flight Simming Addiction!! I had heard about FSeconomy, but never deared pass through the open gates to join in the fun, that is until last week (when I think I had a family, at least from what I can remember). }(At that time I decided to take the plunge, and see what it was all about. Sign-up is a breeze, getting the FSeconomy app running is just as easy. Getting over the addiction after a few flights, not so easy. ;( On my first few flights my extreme newbiness showed in my Personal Bank balance, -(V$4800.00). Yikes.After my first flight I made V$800.00 dropping off a bunch of whiny execs off in Jamaica, wow now that was cool let's do that again. My second flight was a no brainer to New York, CHA-CHING another V$800. However (and here is where my newbiness came in) I decided to do a multiple hop job, incorporating about 4 landings in total in 2 hours. Let's just say 'Read The Freakin Manual' is my new personal catch phrase now. I did not pay attention and just did a touch and go at each airport. :-roll DOH! Reading the manual afterward, keyed me in as to why I now owed over V$4,000 to the really nice owner of N34YC a decked out Beech King Air C90, and had made no money myself. Holy crap, that sucked. I was sweatin' bullets. When will I learn?The good thing is I decided to take the hit, read the manual, and head back to the right airport, shutdown the airplane, let my passengers de-plane, without the duck and role on a touch and go, they really appreciated that! *:-* Had a coffee and then headed to the next destination. After getting the hang of it, by last night after doing a 2 hour flight in a sweet Panther Navajo for a few hours, I was on top, having repaid my rental on the Beech C90, and putting away V$2000.00 in the bank. Man, what an experience.If you haven't already, check out http://www.fseconomy.com. You won't regret it. Although I did for a few moments as I talked to my bank account manager to release the overdraft funds to the C90 owner. Now I need to add a new line to my signature. FSEconomy Addict. Now single and looking!! :-badteeth

Jason[br /]General Aviation Fan[br]P4 3.2Ghz, 1GB Ram, FX5900 128MB, XP SP2.[br /][br /]

I just got back into FS Economy myself. I was in it fairly early, but hadn't used it in awhile simply because of time constraints. I fly mostly GA myself, and I tend to just fly from small to medium sized airports around the country. After awhile this ends up getting pretty routine. Why? What I find is that kind of random traveling can be fun, but it lacks one major factor that real pilots deal with:Get-there-itis!With FS Economy, you finally have a reason to go somewhere. Often times, that somewhere is a small strip somewhere in the mountains. What happens if you get close to the destination airport, and it is socked in with heavy clouds? Divert to alternate (FSE doesn't do this unfortunately)? Take a chance descending blind through the clouds? Even once you get above the airport, where is the strip exactly? With FSE, you need to do at least a minimal amount of flight planning. What is the weather like at the airport(s) you need to land? How much fuel do you need to get there? What airport along the way has this fuel for your plane? Combine FS Economy with realistic weather (I use ActiveSky) plus some sort of random failure generator (I use FS Reliability Factor), and flying becomes a lot more challenging and fun. Just this weekend I was flying a gov't official around the NY / Pennsylvania border when my engine cut out and all went quiet. We ended up crash landing on a road somewhere in the hills. Luckily, fse lets us restart the flight from the last leg in the event of those little inconveniences :)ActiveSky -> http://sales.hifisim.com/ASv6/FS Reliability Factor -> http://ca.geocities.com/[email protected]/index.html

From their site:"Running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere is a thing of the past. You will now be able to refuel from fuel drums that you fly in yourself."Now, my question is - why would I want to fly around in a fuel drum?--Andrew

I use ActiveSky too, it is a definite essential. I didn't know about FS reliability I'll have to check it out. I'll tell you this after using FSEconomy, I am developing even better habits in FS9.I am actually paying attention to how I fly and where I fly now, it certainly helps, that you can answer that age old question too, "where do I fly today?" The 'TripFinder' is a real help.It has added a dimension of reality that was missing for me. You can save for you own plane, you can fly to create your own wealth. Build an FBO of your own, build your own company, heck build up a fleet of aircraft.It only takes me a few minutes to find a flight, rent an aircraft and get FS9 ready, pre-flight, then get on your way. It's that missing 'career mode' we've always wanted.Hey and your in KBUF, I am across the lake in CYOO. Maybe we'll cross paths.

Jason[br /]General Aviation Fan[br]P4 3.2Ghz, 1GB Ram, FX5900 128MB, XP SP2.[br /][br /]

There are a few reason for why you might end up caring fuel drums. Not all airports have fuel so you may need to take it to a stranded aircraft. FBO can run out of fuel so you may have to fly fuel out to one. Also you could carry fuel drums if you bought fuel for a good price and wanted to save money on a long trip. Taylor
