New Calgary Airport (CYYC) Screens Posted...

We are about 90% finished our project and hope to go to beta testing soon. At this stage we are tweaking out the custom ground textures, adding the custom ground lighting and adding the remaining airport vehicles and equipment objects. Thanks and comments/observations welcome!www.cysjhangar.ca and look under the CanUk Scenery tab. Best viewed in full screen. The pics have been divided into categories for ease of viewing.Adam

Looks good. Being that this is payware, would like to ask for the following: Moving vehicles on the tarmac in the release, also would like a docking system for the gates too (not moving gates per say, just a docking system abliet via whatever Calgary uses in real life (marshallers or an automatic system).Eric

Hi Eric, We will have some moving tugs and so forth on the apron as well as some cars, buses moving about and around the airport. Not sure about the docking system though we will defintely look into installing a few though probably not on all gates.Although the scenery is payware, it is going to be priced considerably below the current payware offerings. Our focus as well is to produce a scenery that performs very well. To that end, we are being very conservative about what we add. Ultimately, our goal is to give our customers real value for their money.I hope this helps.Adam

I have been looking forward to this for a while Adam. Also, loved the shot's of you guys at the Canjet hangar. How did you manage that?

Al Stiff

Hi Al,CanJet, yeah that was great! A flightsim buddy of mine's son works for CanJet. He gave me the contact info. We had a great tour. Also checked out the EMS heli at their fbo. That was a great weekend. We photographed 4 small Nova Scotia airports which I'll be doing as freeware projects some time in the not too too distant future.Take care man :-) Adam

It's looking really good, Adam! I'm in the midst of some ground work for PASI at the moment, so I know how hard it can be to get the grass and pavement textures just right. Looks like you did a really good job on 'em.thanks,

Thanks Adam. High quality airports (Fly-Tampa stype stuff)for Canada have been severly lacking for the whole life span of FS9 and that is too bad really. Simflyers CYYZ is a joke as that airport has totally changed since they released that for FS2002. Other than you guys, the only other person working on good payware type stuff is Vauchez over at YVR but that looks to be months away. Looking forward to buying and flying to Calgary.Eric

Thanks guys! A lot of work has been up into this and we are very pleased so far. It's a far cry from the smaller airports I've done in the past and a real learning experience. Bill, yeah the ground stuff is a completely new ball game. Making buildings and textures is one thing but the ground work with its multiple layers and transparencies takes a bit of time to get right for sure. Though, I'll be ready when I start my next project. :DThe one thing that I wish we could have done with Calgary is a photo background. Unfortunately, in order to acquire the photos we needed at the correct resolution, we were looking at an insane amount of money plus the vendors of the aerial imagery told us we would be looking at substantial licensing fees. A completely new landclass is accompanying the project and it looks very good. Peter Wilding has generously offered to let us use some of his wonderful textures from Ground Environment to spruce up the local landclass.Eric, FlyTampa never ceases to amaze me with each subsequent release. You can see a measureable improvement with each scenery and IMO they are all brilliant and not only that, they ask a very fair price. And FlightScenery...WOW. Their stuff speaks for itself. I personally can't wait for CYVR. Once again guys, thanks.

hi,i to am looking forward to calgary and i would also gladly pay for the following,cyhz-the moshers scenery is still great but yhz has changed a lot since its release.cyul-also has changed since the frame eating scenery was released.cyyz-as mentioned above.just a wishlist, keep up the good work.all the best.

Can't wait for a good Canadian Intl airport, Winnipeg was great also!Paul.

Screen shots look great Adam...Looking forward to purchasing and installing Calgary...Regards..TH

Thanks guys!Tony, Steve Mosher built a couple buildings for me on this Calgary project. Needless to say, we have talked often about Halifax. I know that at least he, not certain about his brother Craig, is planning on doing an update for YHZ for FSX. I would jump at the chance to do CYUL and have considered inquiring about getting a tour of the facility. As far as Toronto goes, I have a feeling that you might see that in the new version of FS as I think they are adding more international airports and it would be remiss of them to forget Canada and of course, if they do a Canadian airport, it would likely be CYYZ. Just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised.Paul, We have plans to completely remodel CYWG and have already started collecting info. However, it will be a while before we get to that one.Blazer, thanks! I think you will be pleased with YYC.Adam
