February 3, 20188 yr This is yesterday's flight. Takes me a day to get the post done... Ready to continue our trek to the Caribbean with a flight today from Denver to Kansas City. Our day started off at the airport with breakfast at the famous Blue Sky Bistro. I tried the Breakfast Quesadilla and it was great! The Bistro offers a great view of the runways and mountains. Here is a view back at the Bistro, located in the ground floor of the main facility. Waiting for takeoff clearance on 29L. Now with (4) on board. Listening to departure frequency we anticipate a left turn to route us between downtown Denver and the mountain range. KBJC version from Orbx. Departure was as expected and offered a great panoramic view. Leaving Denver with the Rockies to the West. Yeh! I know! Where is the snow? Well, there is a tradeoff to great detailed vistas from photo real scenery...... Climbing through 15,000 already, Denver International (KDEN) below. (I know, I know! We started at 5,800)! On to Kansas City. Not much to see in between KDEN and KMKC from 23,000, but that headwind we had yesterday is today's tailwind, though it has died off some. Such is flying! Looking forward to a great Kansas City steak dinner tonight. Been years since... Parked at KMKC, Kansas City Downtown Airport. This one by Orbx. When I last lived in Kansas City some 40 years ago the Golden Ox Steak House was the place to go, conveniently located in the Kansas City stockyards area. Our Kansas City friends met us and took us to the former location for some local craft beer before continuing on to a great locally-owned traditional Kansas City steakhouse. Some interesting history has been preserved at the site of the Golden Ox. We ended up downtown at the Majestic! The Majestic was great! A true local Kansas City steakhouse! Brought back distant memories! Oh! Our Kansas City couple picked up the entire check for all six of us. Tomorrow, on to Indianapolis with the max of (6) on board to scoop up more friends! Will then be (8) of us. That will cause me to switch from the PA46T to an F406 Caravan II for our flight from Indy to Ft Myers. I do a lot of grilling out and BBQ in a smoker and I highly prefer cuts of meat bone-in! 1 hour ago, John F said: Especially the craft beer. Used to home brew when I lived in New Jersey. Even from sparging. Tomorrow's trip episode ends up in Indianapolis and I love Scotty's Brewhouse's downtown location. Sadly didn't get there this trip..... If you visit Indy, especially for a trade show or convention, it's a great place to go.
