PTA 2.61 now available (P3D v4.2 compatibility)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

We recently just made v2.61 of PTA available for users that have upgraded to Prepar3D v4.2.

You can find the download via your order page on the SimTweaks website.

Please note: Due to shader structure change within Prepar3D v4.2, some of the tweaks in PTA v2.61 will NOT work in previous versions of Prepar3D. If you are not planning on upgrading from Prepar3D v4.1, you do NOT need to upgrade PTA. There isn't any new functionality in PTA v2.61, just compatibility with Prepar3D v4.2.

Thanks,

Matt.

So I don't screw things up, if upgrading just the client from version 4.1 to 4.2 I need to:

1. Install back in the default shaders via the PTA UI in version 2.60.

2. Uninstall P3D v4.1 client

3. Install P3D v4.2 client

4. Install PTA v2.61

5. Backup default shaders and install preset of choice.

Thanks! How can we understand which PTA tweaks won't work in v4.2?

They all work. They will not all work with v4.1. Just as Matt wrote.

Big THANKS Matt for jumping on that one so quickly !  I upgraded to 4.2 without even thinking about add-on compatibility issues (oops) and I'm still installing add-ons to a new PC build.  You, and a handful of other developers, have been quick to provide updates.  Much appreciated.

FYI : the custom Cloud directional tweaks do not work in P3Dv4.2 ; they make the 3D clouds dissapear.

If you have them as custom tweaks , remove them and the 4.1 preset will wortk in 4.2.

I use your 12 month presets (top notch), is this in those? If so will you be updating them?

Reinstalling the client reinstalls the shaders, no need to worry about those.

Yes, those are in my presets.

Tomorrow I will modify them so they will work in V4.2.

Then I will post it in my thread.
