Help please for a button user transitioning to voice

Recommended Posts

Must admit I've always used button control in previous FS2 Crew programs I've purchased. Speaking into a computer just makes me feel like a dork, but needs must as the Maddog version has only the voice option.

Now I have to use voice I'm a bit confused by the manual, as I can't seem to work out who does what and when, especially at start up. I normally let the FO do most of the donkey work while I do things like FMC MCP etc. Lazy, yes, but that's the way I roll with my simming.

Is there a video out there, even from another voice version for a different plane that can enlighten me? The button versions seemed to have a more step by step guide compared with this, or am I just missing something obvious? I've also downloaded the MaddogX summary pdf, but I'm still confused.

Sorry, something isn't clicking here. I'm sure experienced voice users will have a good laugh, but I'm struggling to see how this all gels.

Can you also explain what "read silently" actually means. Thanks.

Not sure which section you are referring to but "read silently" usually means the FO will do the checklist but not say anything.  He/She usually concludes with " ABCD Checklist complete".

As for working through the voice list, if you open up the PDF or Excel summary of the Captains only flows, that will guide you through everything and is designed specifically for voice.  Hope this helps.

As I created it I will explain. Everything in black is your (the captains) actions. The FO actions are completely ignored on this cheat sheet. The blue is a checklist. You call the checklist by saying the bold title in white. The read response of the checklist you say what is in red.

Thanks but I'm still confused by it all in terms of what I do and what the FO does. Button just seemed to be more intuitive.

Can you recommend a economical microphone\headset?

Hi Vic,

Get USB headset.  Generic will do.  I use the Microsoft one.  You can probably find it for $30 somewhere.

Some people go all out with noise cancelling... I think that's overkill.
