New SODE update 1.6.2 (eliminating stutter)

Recommended Posts

I posted over at the DD forum. He told me to keep the old version of SODE. I told him not going to happen and if he was planning to update his stuff. His reply:

"We have about 40 airports in our offer. Yes, we will be updating them step by step but this will definitely take time and I am sure our products are not the only one affected. If you know someone experienced with SODE XML coding we would be happy to cooperate with such a person to make things faster. As for now we are unable to leave everything we are working on and just start rewriting XML files. But sure, we will eventually do this."

So for DD NY Airports, it will be a while it sounds like.

I'm going to assume that DD's LOWS will also require an update.

Not necessarily...the DD we're talking about here is Drzewiecki Design...LOWS is made by the "other" DD (Digital Design).

Thanks for clarifying.

Most simmers know who developed LOWS. It is one of the best addons for p3d v4 and it does require SODE. I'm going to deduce, based on my experience with Digital Design that I need to stick with 1.5.3

I forgot what is controlled by SODE at LOWS? There are not Gates.

So we shouldn't update to 1.6.2?

That’s up to you if you own DD scenery. I am all about the improvements it will make with all the other scenery. This reminds me when FSDT switched to Add-on.xml and the confusion it first caused but later we adapted.

Part of the problem is that we don't really know what scenery/airports require 1.5.3 vs. those that require 1.6.2.  I'm pretty sure Drzewiecki Design is not the only content provider that could be impacted by the update to SODE 1.6.2.  It would be handy if there were a method to detect and switch compatibility paths on the fly unless there is some "master" list somewhere?

Cheers, Rob.

Won’t the SODE log file tell you what is not working?

With WashingtonX the gates are there but do not operate. Other than that everything else appears to be working. The log file shows all my other non DD scenery working just fine. I only own Seattle Airports and Washington so I will continue to use the new SODE.

I don't get it, the Flightbeam airports I have that use SODE jetways ( KPHX-KMSP-KSFO) all work fine using 1.6.2 and none of them airports have been updated since before SODE 1.6.0 was released.

Seems only sceneries using the older sdx are effected. FSDT, FlightBeam, PacSim, ImagineSim and most other use the new XML format. If you look in your Pilots SODE folder you can see which ones will be effected.

Yup, so far DD is the only dev that's affected.
