We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Was Microsoft Flight really that bad? No, it wasn't. I still think that Flight has not been exceeded yet. Honestly!

Still sad that Microsoft made the decision to abandon Flight. It had so much potential. My hope is that FSW will replace it with all the great things we enjoyed.  We shall see.

Thank you.

Using only Flight, no other sim comes even close.

Likewise guys.
I actually keep hoping someone will come up with something better than Flight, but after all these years, no one has.  I wonder what MS Flight 5.0 would look like today if it had remained in development?

I am really surprised at DTG. They had an opportunity to pick up the Flight franchise and instead took the FSX package and are now basing their FSW on it.

I don't know what internal coding made them so dramatically different,  but it seems to me that Flight would have been the best platform to build upon.

I guess we will just have to wait and see what magic they perform on FSW but I wish it had been the Flight engine used.

This video inspired me to give Flight a try. I got into flight simming around the time Flight demised so I never bothered. Anyway, I'm very impressed! The performance on my gaming laptop is excellent and it runs butter smooth and it looks really good. By comparison FSW runs at about 1/3 the frame rate (with TrueSky enabled) and its graphics don't look as good as Flight (except the airplanes which do look incredible in FSW).

Flight's support for controlling the aircraft and cameras with keyboard/mouse is superb. I'm very grateful for the Flight Toolkit which enables late comers like me to really appreciate what Flight had to offer.

Unfortunately the Flight Toolkit Addon Manager crashes when I try to add the Alaska scenery, has anyone else run into that? I'm able to enable the aircraft and other features in Addon Manager, it's only Alaska that's not working.

Check the pinned topics at the top of the forum.  There are a couple that deal with the toolkit. Perhaps one can help you get it squared away.

I haven't used the toolkit since its' earliest versions so I can't help with your problem.  Hopefully one of the more experienced members will be along to get it right for you.

Thank you.

Thanks I have it sorted now. I just needed to be sure to install the other addons before the Alaska ones.

Yes. It looked like a game and it was a closed platform designed to make money.

That's why it died, it was bad.

It was maybe a bad businesses model to choose a closed platform, but the core of the software was and still is very good. And if you want to reach a market beyond the core simming community, it needs to look like a game.

Well, yeah... That sounds about right. Maybe it was just the initial approach that went wrong because yes, it did look promising graphics wise.

I'm back also. Just getting back into MS Flight again after loosing everything due to a fatal computer crash. Any way, new system, OMEN 870se. 32G memory, i7-7700k, GTX 1080 8G.

Everything maxed out for all flight sims, MS Flight, FSX, and FSW. Steam was being difficult with MS Flight so I downloaded a new copy outside of Steam. Using the 'FLIGHT TOOL KIT.' I got all my aircraft back. So after 500 hours in MS Flight I am starting all over again. Least I get to collect Aerocaches all over again including the 25 or so that I had submitted myself. Flight is still the best in many respects in my humble opinion. Best graphics, best water textures, best runways and the most fun to boot. I do wish FSW had a HUD like Flight uses, hate the whiskey compass in the Super Cub. Still have high hopes for FSW.

On a side note, looking for repaints in the Avsim library to replace those that were lost, but have only found two so far. Am I looking in the wrong place?
