AI Callsigns

Recommended Posts

I use MT6 with VoxATC and it's working pretty well.  One thing though - where does VoxATC pick up the AI call signs that it uses?  Is it in the aircraft.cfg file?  I ask this because I hear some aircraft (I think it's military) being called "US" when I believe that should be "U.S."

Is there a list of what airline call signs the program can recognize?

It "recognizes" whatever callsign is in the specific aircraft.cfg file. VOXATC has a user-editable lexicon XML file that allows for correcting abbreviations like US being improperly pronounced as the word "us".

Unfortunately, these corrections apply only to the VoxPop voices. Ivona voices have their own OS-wide corrections. But the remaining voice types would need coding changes in VOXATC in order to recognize additional lexicon files.

It is possible to universally correct the pronunciation of abbreviations that are part of airport names (intl, st, co, st, ft, etc.) by editing the airport name with ADE.

The most annoyment gaffe is the word wind which in the ATIS is pronounced like winding a clock. This is due to the context , which in ATIS announcements is caused by lack of proper sentence structure.
