P3DV4 how to adjust excess brightness?

Recommended Posts

When I use P3Dv4, The tarmac, the top exterior surfaces of my aircraft and the VC of some cockpits are so bright that it is difficult to discern taxi lines, cockpit switches etc, I have been adjusting the Brightness, Saturation and Bloom but cannot get a happy medium. When I thought I found a solution to the above, the result created an outdoor environment in which what should have been cloudless sunny sky, now made the airport look like it was overcast.

Can anyone recommend a good setting of Brightness/Bloom/Saturation that I can try?

As always, very much appreciated.

Rob

I presume you mean when HDR is enabled?  I can't stand hdr - but with it off my virtual cockpit is too dark, I'd love to have hdr on for the VC only if I could.

id just turn hdr off when looking externally

I agree with Ryan.  HDR overly brightens areas of the scene, and the effect is not pleasing to my eyes no matter how I adjust the sliders.  Although not a fan of the effect, I do understand it is very popular.  If this is indeed your issue, either play with the sliders or turn HDR off and see how it looks.  While I agree the VC will be a bit darker with HDR off, it is still looks better to me than with HDR on.

Choices, we have choices!

Hdr is hit and miss for me too, hard to get that happy medium from interior to exterior.

If you have an Nvidia card, this is what I've done and it works very well for me:

- P3D hdr off

- in NCP (adjust desktop colour settings) use the sliders there to adjust. The gamma and digital vibrance settings make the most difference. I have mine set to +0.80 and +60% respectively. The brightness and contrast can also be adjusted here, but I prefer to do that within my monitor settings.

Your mileage may vary, but this gives me a nice balance and my gpu isn't working as hard as it would with hdr on.
