Anyone mortgage their home for the "new" Porter?

Will look forward to your report.

Bit steep for an upgrade, but I'd probably buy the amphib and probably the wheeled version if I'd not had the original yet.btw, the tone of your post to me already amounts to bashing.

I already had version 1, and I wasn't really flying the Porter that much since it was kind of dated and was frame-hungry on my setup. I was going to forego the version 2 upgrade, especially since I bought the Eaglesoft Cirrus SR22 just 2 days before, but last night on a whim and impulse, I bought version 2 anyway. I am glad I did! Besides the advertising hype, which is all true, the new model seems kinder on frame rates. Where version 1 typically gave me 16-18 fps, the new model gives me 22-24 over the same scenery. My experience may be unique but I am enjoying the Porter all over again as I haven't in quite a while. IMO the pilot's viewpoint in virtual cockpit has improved as well making it easier to see where you're going but retaining a realistic perspective. No regrets here!

I'm getting much better frames too. They even have a control on their loading utility that lets you tweak VC performance. Very cool.Rob

>Well Im keeping FS9 and my small fortune of addons on my>computer even once I buy FS10. Im just not going to spend much>more on addons for it. That's exactly what I said when FS 2004 came out. And I ended up buying more addons for 2004 than I ever did before.I think I must be hooked.Rob

I had the first version so I decided to upgrade. Not interested in the skis so the upgrade was $18. In my opion it was well worth it. Much improved VC performance to include much smoother gauges than the original. Great frames. I like being able to remove the GPS with a click and also to be able to change the interior load with a click of a knob in the VC. Fun to fly.Dave________________________________________AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego @ 2.6MhzNForce4-A939 mobo 1G FSB2x1G Cosair XMS Ram on dual channelsSapphire Radeon X1900XT Video Card @ XTX23" Apple Cinema Display @ 1920X1200Soundblaster Live24Saitek Cyborg EVO TrackIR4

Upgrade was 18 bucks including skis. I jsut d/l'd the update and am installing now.

Dave, It sounds like I missed something. I have the upgrade. Can I change the interior, and if so, how?

There is a knob in the VC next to the switches which will do that. Not sure but I think the knob is in the 2D panel too.Rob

It is the circular knob on the same panel where the battery, generator etc. toggles are located. Looks like a dimmer rheostat. Rotate it clockwise and the cabin interior changes from empty to seats to cargo to a jump bench. You can see the cargo stack on the outside view. Neat feature!Bob..

Thanks, Rob and Bob. Now I have cargo in the hold. I love a plane that works for a living!!
