Wondering if the CPU's temp are fine...

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm just wondering if max 78C spikes are fine for i7-6700k OC-ed to 4.7 with 1.325v with H110 cooler. The averages in P3Dv4 under the heavy scenery and PMDG planes are around 70-72C.

Would appreciate your advise.

Thanks

Dmitriy

During a recent conversation with a moderator here I was told that the 8700K can get as high as 102-105C before thermal throttling starts.  I'm no expert, but it would seem that the spikes and average temps for your 6700K are likely just fine.  My 8700K is running similar temps to yours, and I was told not to be concerned.  Hopefully some other knowledgeable folks will chime in.  I really believe you'll be OK.

You have both thermal trottling and power limit trottling, with Good cooling you can get downclock as low  as 70C the power limit tripped. In that case you can increase the power  limits.

On  my 8700k i have tuned the power to start downclock at 95C,its no vrm throttling  on  good mobo z270 z370.

Its another ballgame with x299

You ar safe up to 80-85c up to 90c short,  I feel comfortable with 60-75C short  spikes  to 80-85C

According to Intel (https://ark.intel.com/products/126684/Intel-Core-i7-8700K-Processor-12M-Cache-up-to-4_70-GHz) the maximum Tjunction temperature for the 8700k is 100°C. The popup next to that says "Junction Temperature is the maximum temperature allowed at the processor die".

Perfectly fine. Brief spikes are a characteristic of the latest CPU's. Hence why some find fan RPM ramping up and down annoyingly. Not an issue with a fan spin up time delay and fan spin down delay set in the BIOS.
