LOC/G/P?

Recommended Posts

I've gotten that on occasion and never fully understood why, but I suspect that by staying in VNAV mode the predicted vertical path never intersects the GS.  Basically what you got here is a GPS-overlayed ILS approach.  The way I avoid this is to not use VNAV in the terminal area, which is realistic for most terminals.  Of course there are cases where VNAV and GS intersect nicely (KLAX) so it's not a rule for all occasions.

According to the FCOM (vol 2, pages 4.20.20 & 21), you will get this indication if there is a localiser but no glideslope signal, so IAN provides the glidepath guidance. Which approach was it? It might be an ILS according to your navdata, but a LOC-DME in FSX.

Selecting G/S OFF on FMC  ARRIVALS or APPROACH REF page will also cause LOC/G/P to be annunciated.

I think it was the 08L at LFPG, and come to think of it I probably saw VDM08L on the FMC and didn't really know what it was, so I presumed it to be ILS-esque.

VOR/DME approach.
