fsaerodata

Recommended Posts

I have purchased fsaerodata and installed latest airac data 1804.  fsaerodata says that it updates the approaches and installs new approaches in P3D however I see no new approaches in the ATC pull down menu.  What is up with that?  Any suggestions?

@Mauleflyer I don't think fsaerodata interacts with default ATC modules. It simply updates the navigation database so that your gps or any nav equipment that uses the built-in sim nav database can reference an updated AIRAC.

I think N2382R is right. Default ATC isn't aware of STARs and SIDs. I have all my navigation data up to date using ProATC-X, fsaerodata and LittleNavMap or PFPX together with a Navigraph subscription. IMO this is the best combination for navigation purposes. There are other combinations available which also include freeware like http://www.aero.sors.fr/

I have a funny story related to that.

I purchased and installed FSAerodate with NAV cycle 1803 a couple of months ago.

It did update runways and Approaches and STARS for VTBS, Thailand.

But when I got there, there was no Airport to be found. P3D v4.2 has it listed as a viable Airport but there is no Airport.

I had to divert to the old VTBD.

VTBS has been there since 2006. You'd think that LM would have added it to the default airports. All you've got are the fsaerodata approaches, comms and navaids. Hard to land without a runway though.😃
