Newbee questions about the integration of a 750 in XP11

Recommended Posts

I recently bought RXP and I am very happy with it. I managed to "install" two GTN750's in the Dash7-150, just above the original 530's. Works very well, but I got a couple of questions:

1. How do the screen coordinates top and left really work? My left panel: frame.rect = 14,1392,228,256 and right panel: frame.rect = 480,1392,228,256. Is the base top & left, the center of the screen? Somehow since they are both on the central console, the 14 left for the left GTN makes no sense to me. Is it maybe a combination of left + width?

2. Only one GTN gets powered on, is this normal? Both use the same power source.

3. The resolution of the GTN in the panel view is poor, in the Dreamfoil Bell 207 the resolution is perfect and everything is perfectly readable. It got nothing to do with the tilt angle. If I look straight from top, the screens are still fuzzy. The Dash7 was recently ported from XP10 to XP11, could this be the issue?

If have tried to attach a screenshot, but couldn't find a way to do it in the forum.

Other than that, I am very happy with it, just want learn more.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

I'd suggest you download the GNS V2 X-Plane User's Manual from our website to view the B58 tutorial. It explains the 'coordinates', although for the GNS, applicable as-is for the GTN too.

As for the resolution, this is unfortunately a limitation in X-Plane: since there is no 'gauge' in X-Plane, our plugin must render the GTN on the panel, were the aircraft modeller as left space for the panel texture (panel.png). Therefore, the smaller this panel texture size, the larger the pixels for the GTN. It is possible to manually edit the aircraft files (act, obj) to remap the panel with a different resolution but it is really deep-tech knowledge I don't even master yet.

As for the power, you might want to look the content of the RXP log files for any info (see user's manual for file/path), otherwise, it is possible there is no 'copilot' power (side were the GTN #2 is connected to by default, you can change this in the settings panel).

Hi Jean-Luc,

Thank you for your information. Off course, I did not download the GNS manual ;-) Now I understand, page 16 & 17 explains everything, excellent.

As far as the blurriness is concerned, you just confirmed what I thought may be the reason. Makes 100% sense otherwise the GNS/GTN would not scale to the various screen sizes of the users. Not a big issue for me as I run the GTN on an external 10 inch Mimi display link touch screen (no bezel) and that is like the real GTN.

Both GTN's are powered to the same bus, Main Battery. It is random which GTN 750 gets powered on or not, that's confusing me. Am I right, with the current license I may integrate 2 GTN 750's in one plane? I will check about the 'copilot' power as well next time I am on my XP rig.

Thanks a lot for your support.

Christian

Yes you are right, a product license gives 2 devices of the same type.

I'm not sure what could cause a failure when loading 2 devices though, and it would be best reviewing the GTN logs (see manual for file/path).

Please note the latest update is now live (via check update, or downloading the e-commerce installer from our website).

I'm about to post the release note in the forum but you can read them all already:

Thank you for the head ups. I updated to the lasted version and restartet XP. I set both panels power source to "Always On". The right GTN is set to "Copilot". The right GTN changes the cursor while hovering over the button and dials, however it stays always blank.

Here is the content of the logs (can not attach anything in this forum)

This sounds easy, here are some remarks:

1) Both GTN_750_1 and GTN_750_2 are set to COM1/NAV1.

You might want to set #2 to COM2/NAV2 instead?

2)

[GTN_750_1]
drawto = WINDOW, PANELS, PANELS

one too many 'PANELS' there.

3)

[GTN_750_2.WINDOW]
; display window if true.
visible = false

Self explanatory!

Either manually change the ini file, or: Plugins | Reality XP | GTN #2 | Show Window.

4) GTN #1 is on AVIONICS_BUS, GTN #2 is ALWAYS_ON.

You might want to try MAIN_BATTERY to compare ? (this depends on how the aircraft electrical system has been configured by the aircraft vendor).
