PMDG 777-200ER for 2018?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I see a lot of interest, admittedly a little by myself, about the 777-200ER.

Can we please have a statement either way about whether PMDG still intend to make this product? In the initial product release, the intro manual stated the 200er will be coming out months after the initial release. And we have had absolutely no word since.

It would be sincerely appreciated if we can just have a up to date progress check, either way, whether we will be getting this addon.

As a query, if you don't intend to do the differences in performance, please could we have a 200er visual mod (like you did the 747-8 back in the day).

Thank you in advance,

This is the statement from PMDG on the 200ER on an earlier manual.

Yes I remember seeing this! This was one of the reasons I purchased the T7, I was very disappointed with no release of the ER.

Hello

This is the one 777 model that I have been waiting for, ever since the original 200LR release then the 300ER.  The promise for these models was is in the original manual, yet with every announcement, there is no mention of the 200ER.

The 777LR was always the niche model compared to the 200ER,

I would like to see the -200ER come out as well, much as I enjoy flying the existing 777s.

I'd certainly like to see the -200ER, and the lack of one was what stopped me from buying the 777 at all since the -200ER would be the one I'd primarily fly if I were to buy it. I guess we'll see what happens.

Agreed. I always relied in good faith on that statement that we would one day get the 200ER (insinuated to be not long after initial release in the original manual) - I even printed a full set of real world manuals out ready. That was a few years ago now.

Alex,

If we do the ER then it will be a fully model with all it's performance characteristics and not a visual model only. We do not intend to release any "visual models" only.

Currently there are no active plans for the 200ER. This does not mean that we have abandoned this project just not in our plans currently.

To "clarify" Chris' comment about plans:

All of our devs are currently working on other projects. Official news/updates/plans about products in development, as always, comes from pinned posts by RSR.

Out of interest. For the amount of development work that went into the 777 project and for a comparatively low development time to release a 200er. Why didn't it get developed with the 300er?

I believe one if the most popular threads ever on avsim with about the 200ER.

Kind regards

The upside is you can use a 777-200LR for everything you'd use a 200ER for.

200LR/F: GE90-110B1
300ER: GE90-115B
200ER: PW 4090, RR 895, and GE90-94B

The performance data task is nothing to write off as a casual one. It's a lot easier to model a single engine type than it is to model three.

I still struggle to get my head around the concept of not flying the 777 simply because it is an LR and not an ER  There are only ever going to be a small selection of aircraft that are modelled by PMDG at any one time, so compromises need to be made.

Engine choices? The GE90 is NOT the PW4084.
