That's kinda cool Jean-Luc.

Heclak, what IS that place! Interesting. You did mean N 39.13 and E 83.50 right? Looks like a moon crater! I think China also, elevation is almost 3700 feet though, so won't work.JeanLuc, thanks! My french is rusty but it looks like an attempt at what we've been discussion. I like the water tower smack dab at the end of the runway for practicing "les meilleurs angles de montee". Ouch!

Follow up JeanLuc, the FSNav images do look very much like some aspects of what I was proposing and remind me that I didn't address Nav Aids in the proposal above. This person has added NDBs and ILSs to each runway and VOR on the field. Cool. From the image it appears his/her runways are aligned true north but I think mag north is better for practice judging wind effects etc. without having to concentrate on the mental computation.

that looks great JeanLuc. All thats missing is the road networks and pylons. I never thought of the idea of creating a new island. That would certainly solve the issue of sea level and hiding the place. sorry but i can't read french. But what exactly do the words mean? I understand the part of runways to practice STOL esp with the water tower.

Hi all. I started an AFCAD for the airport to serve as a mock up. Won't have much time over the next few days but stay tuned

I've put the eye candy on hold for awhile Laying out everything now. Place 2 perpendicular runways so far.1 or 2 more will go up too. What kind of light system do you guys want? I'm not too sure about light systems and their differences.so i'll need some help on that. Put down an apron. I've also setup a rectangle square course with pylons and an apron. VOR and NDB in the centre to help find it if you guys get lost. So far the objects and pylons are all place holders. When i fix down positions i'll put in the custom ones. Runways are placed magnetic north as requested. 50ft walls will go up tomorrow. have to custom make them and import. distance markers along the runway will also come up very soon. After that would be the road network. Would 10 rows and columns spaced at 1/2nm intervals be enough? That would make up 5nm. At an average speed of 200kts. You'll take 1.5mins to fly over it. Landclass would go up after that as everything is floating on water now. Brand new island in some remote location. I'm pretty sure no AI will come close.

I'll try at translating:located on an island in Golfe du Lion (this is south of France in the sea), at about 50 miles from LFMP, the Flight Test Facility is a deam comes true for the flight test pilot. The scene is at sea level, so you just need to set temperature to 15

You cant get anymore in the Middle of Nowhere than KEDW... and its bigger than KLAX and KSFO combined. Asphalt runways long enough to land the shuttle, and if the shuttle is in trouble Ive heard a 20,000 foot runway of dirt when asphalt runs out. Wide enough you could probably land a Cessna across it... ;-) I'd check out the add-on before inventing the wheel...

I've basically done up the airport already. Would need to have opinions on runway layouts and specs before i continue to lay tracks for the road networks. I'll post some screenshots soon enough. works are still rough so far. no buildings on the airport yet. so far, only the pylon square course is in place with the runways.

Sorry for the slow update. But after potential harddisk failure with my harddisk making funny sounds, software not willing to cooperate. I've manage to salvage my files and update them again. layout of the runways is complete and taxiways are being laid out. Pylon square course is relatively done except for texturing. Experimenting with taxiway placements to allow you guys to practice difficult taxying in new aircraft. Remember the first time you taxied in a 747 or A346? It wasn't that easy. Here's the chance for you to practice.fs920060701004817871vk.pngfs920060701004907730rg.png

here are somemore pics. Its almost done. Looking for people to beta test it and give more specific comments on improving it further. I've decided to use a more frame rate friendly method to making the road network. It is replaced by a grid on the grid. There's a pic of it below. The distances of the grid are known and can be used to precisely judge distances and turn radius. You can also use it to practice visual landings as it leads to the runway.Perfect for practising in a new aircraft. Taxiways are completed. They are based on analysing many airport taxiways to try and mimic as many different turns possible. Also to help orientate yourself at busy airports with complex taxiway networks. They are many alternate routes to take, with easy turns, difficult turns, less turns and more turns. flightestcentre5tf.jpgflightestcentre029le.jpgflightestcentre039kq.jpg If you would like to help in a great way by testing this out and giving your comments. Please post here or drop me a pm with an e-mail so i can send you the files. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

You rock! Been away on other things for a while. How can I help?

Glad to see you back.you can drop me a pm or post here with yur e-mail and i'll send you a beta to test and make things easier to give suggestions to improve on it. Your help will be greatly appreciated. I'm having this wild idea. Although it seems pretty hard to cater to all. Since practicing circuits is part of learning a new aircraft. I'm thinking of drawing layouts on the ground like the grid a airport circuit for individual aircraft. So there a line plotted for the Cessna, 737,747,A340 etc. But only a popular few. All circuits based on aircraft turning radius. What do you think of this? Useful? Or just making the ground awfully complicated. My next step in the project would be to start wrting the complicated manual. And come up with SIDs and STARs that are difficult. Probably based on real life too. For practicing difficult approaches. Anyone has suggestions? I'm sure lots of approaches are interesting. I'm also on the lookout for people who are experienced in the land of water landings. Are there specific procedures or something? I'm also planning to include an area for water landing practice. The water is easy. Its everywhere already.haha.
