Another window broken luckily no one seriously injured.

There's something very strange about this incident. The window was intact and fell into the aircraft. This must have happened long before the cabin pressurization had become effective, as the pressure should have held the window in place.

Either that or they never bothered to pressurize the aircraft at all while at FL150!

It looks rather like it was the inner panel of the window, with its surrounding trim, which detached. I suspect there may be an outer panel, still in place.

You are most likely correct. In other words, it seems to be much to do about nothing in the final analysis.

The more I read news, the more I distrust media outlets.  I understand the media can't be experts in every field but c'mon!  This line from the linked MSN report: "...an event eerily similar to the Southwest Airlines 1380 incident last Tuesday." is simply ridiculous.  If you understand even the basics of what happened on these two flights, you realize they had almost NO commonality.  On the other hand, if you want to generate clicks and spread FUD, well... Good grief.

Don't mind me.  Just cranky on a Monday morning, I guess.

The inner window is only there to protect the more expensive outer window from passengers scratching it, It is superficial and does nothing to protect anyone, also probably the inner window that darkens on those 787s. I can't stand news stories like that, they should have explained it better like this one does when a glass membrane breaks:

Grist to the mill... folk are a little antsy about flying the Dreamliner now though.

Air NZ is hopping from puddle to puddle with theirs as ETOPS range has been restricted, along with reduced MTOW. Thousands of passengers affected.
