[25APR18] New Product Reveal at FlightSim Expo'18 - Las Vegas 09JUN18

Recommended Posts

Sure hope it's a new flight sim platform cause I'm betting DTG is fixing to go after LM, trying to blame them for Crappy fsw's enviable demise and thereby screwing the p3d user base in this community.

Nobody else had said this but I have been thinking this too. Actually it's one of the first things that came to mind when DTG made their announcement.

But, it can also be argued that we're not an entertainment market, we are actually looking for a professional product because we want a professional experience.

LMAO!!!  😅  I love these "Guess The New Product That's Coming!!!" threads.  Here's the BEST you can expect AFTER the announcement at the EXPO in June....

1.  Some people will say, "I knew that was gonna happen!"

2.  Some people will say, "WOW!  I didn't see THAT one coming!!!"

3.  Some people will say, "Cool!"  It's the neatest thing since sliced bread!"

4.  Some people will say, "What?  Are they crazy??  Nobody's gonna buy that!!!"

5.  Some people will say, "It sucks 'cos it doesn't run well on MY computer!!!"

6.  And the serious flight simmers who spend $100+ to purchase a "study level" aircraft (without complaining about the price, BTW)....and who actually DO read the accompanying 200+ page manuals that come with them....will say, "If this works the way it is designed to work, I'm gonna LOVE it."

I certainly hope it's not "another flight simulator".  Geez, we already have enough of those already.  And people STILL arguing about which one is "better" or not.  Anyhow, I don't see PMDG entering that fray.  Why on earth would they want to become another flight simulator developer?  Their expertise is creating the (arguably) most realistic AIRCRAFT addons for current simulators.  At best, I could understand them MAYBE doing a PMDG-specific "platform" to fly their aircraft in.  But nothing approaching the same philosophy as current flightsims.  More like what a real airline would use in their simulator training devices.  They don't load up enough data to do an 8-hour long-haul flight anywhere.  They load up just enough "stuff" to do a particular training session PERTINANT TO the specific aircraft at the time.

Anyhow, based on the quality of PMDG products in my 30+ years of flight simming, I'm gonna be in the Number 6 group, whatever the "new product" is.   😎

It might take that long. We don't have one yet!

Takes about 20 years to make a real one.

And just to inject my usual controversy, hopefully it will also be supported in XP11. 😄

Thiago,

I couldn't disagree more.  😜

(Sorry- that was rude- but I couldn't resist since I got yelled at last time.  ahahahaahah)

As hinted at by them randomly appearing in the QOTS cockpit, it will be a line of PMDG ballpoint pens and canned sodas! 😁

With the current popularity of craft beers, everybody seems to be opening a microbrewery nowadays. I predict that we will see the introduction of a line of PMDG-branded IPA and dark ales!

Nothing compares with a pint of Guinness. Not even a PMDG branded one 🙂
