REX forward ports for downloading real weather?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've been having issues with my REX weather updating with real weather. It was working fine on Monday.

I tried today and it has stopped updating.

Adding the exe to my firewall (software) helped resolve this on Monday but it has stopped working tonight again.

Does anyone know the ports that REX uses for downloading real weather as I am convinced it is my router.

I already run the exe's in administrator mode on Windows 7 x64 bit.

Many thanks for your help in advanced.

Check the fsrealwx website.  It says they are "temporarily" shut down right after it greets you with happy new year.  This is May, so its is going on a 6 months.

REX are yes ... http://www.rexsimulations.com/ So is fsrealwx.

But you haven't told the full story. The REX product for FS9 has been withdrawn.

Also, the FSRealFX web site at https://www.fsrealwx.net/ continues to say: "The shop and sale of FSrealWX is temporarily closed. We are preparing for the release and sale of FSrealWXv3."

So it seems the only FS9 product available at present for FS9 is FS Global - at https://www.pilots.shop/Cms/Ui/Pages/Products/MainPage.aspx?id=253b8b5c-0a91-4935-8d01-b3c70aee6034

Hi all,

UPDATE: Decided to give up on REX weather engine. I'm using https://www.fsrealwx.net/ instead now :) It is working so I just use the REX textures :)

In my second post I stated that I had given up on getting the REX weather engine to work. The REX textures are working fine and I never stated any issues with the textures (I probably should have done so).

I have moved over to another weather engine product (fsrealwx in this instance).

I have a surviving installation of Active Sky that also is no longer sold but is still working fine, thanks to the good people at HiFiSimtech.  It is far more accurate at depicting weather than REX for fs9 ever was, but REX has their beautiful texture sets which ASE does not provide.  The only disappointment with the REX/ASE combo is that it takes quite a bit of time to generate the current weather (several minutes for each change of locales.  I will have to see if REX's weather engine is still working on my system.  The best way to do that is to find a location where rain is falling in real time, and see if the weather engine depicts that.

Update: REX for fs 9 still operates, as does ASE.  Neither is commercially available. FSrealweather is also not currently available to new users, as referenced in posts preceding this one.  The FS9 on-board weather still work most of the time, but some here have commented that the depicted conditions may not match real world at that particular time.

FSRealWX is free to use. With the option to upgrade for extra features. Agreed though that the former or REX weather engine is as good as Active Sky.

In fact, I tried to obtain a key for Active Sky Evolution but HiFi refused to sell me a key because it was no longer supported.

Pete, just an FYI: Google gives me a very stern warning when I try to navigate to your web page.

Oh no! So it does. I know what that is.

It's because my security certificate isn't from my hoster but a third party.

It is safe to use.

TBH: I'd thought I had fixed that but obviously not :( ... it's made the to - do - list

Thanks for informing :)
