Having problems with 5-10 second freezes

Recommended Posts

Finally got the last few bits and pieces installed and the sim is still running great, like the good old days. So all that work did seem to pay off, fortunately. I'm just not sure if I should take the time to ring it to OrbX's attention, as it's a pretty general issue that seems to be very sporadically experienced?

What happens if you disable Vector in the scenery library?  Do the pauses stay.

I must admit, I didn't try that.

This is exactly what happened on my system. A couple 5-10 second pauses every flight. I uninstalled Vector, pauses went way. I reinstalled Vector, pauses came back. I still will get occasional 2-3 second pause (when getting within range of a add-on airport on approach), but nothing like the 5-10 second ones getting with Vector during all phases of flight.

YMMV

Yeah, pretty much mirrors what I'm experiencing, though my loading stutters are only half a second, to a second. However, that's pretty much identical to what I've experienced in all my years using P3D -- Even when using Vector, oddly enough. Something just happened in 4.x that clashes with Vector, it seems.

To completely uninstall, I'd point you to the ORBX forums for support on how to correctly and completely uninstall Vector.

Just uninstalling it through FTX Central and then removing the Vector folder, from the OrbX folder located inside the Prepar3D main folder did the trick for me.

You might also consider UTX - which is my favorite. Not the same performance hit as Vector but comparable or better visuals. IMHO.

FWIW, I have one system set up with GEX and UTX with certain specific ORBX areas and I have the other set up with FTX Global & Vector and orbx areas. Better performance and better looking are the GEX/UTX IMHO.

Thanks for the suggestion. Can it provide just the coastline vector data, whilst using FTX Global and the finer grained OrbX products, or do you need to use GEX as well? At this point I'd rather not have to buy into yet another complete ecosystem.

Also, I made a thread on their support forum, just testing the waters on where they are on the issue. If someone else is experiencing the same or something similar, I'd love for you to post it over there; https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/153966-long-pauses-freezes-when-using-vector/

UTX works just fine with FTX Global.

Looks like I'll have to give it a serious look if nothing comes of the support request. Thanks again.

I have these long freezes everytime I'm nearing an addon airport. When I'm flying the A320 sometimes it will even disconnect the AP when the freeze ceases.

Exact same here. Also, (FSL A320 Family) the auto brakes are sometimes being disarmed so if you’re done with your landing checklist and don’t notice, the auto brakes have been disarmed due to the freezing, you’ll end up in noticing when you’ve landed and don’t really slow down...
