The 15 Best Airports in the World (2018)

Featured Replies

Not really amazing that American airports dominate the list of departure airports, and these dominate the distanations!

Interesting list, the commute from Auckland to London contains a possible connection through airports #1 and #2 in the rankings!
Changi has always been light years ahead - first contact years ago with the self-flushing toilet as I recall.

Dubai not featured... I suppose it's merely BIG 🙂

And how Heathrow got in there defeats me... perhaps if Terminal 5 were the only one operating?

These lists tend to be all over the place and I don't mean geographically. Some authors stress certain criteria and other authors emphasize different airport features and aspects.

In contrast, the airline rating lists tend to be fairly consistent.

I’ve been to 9 of these 15 and to me it’s a fairly reasonable list overall. I find Changi a bit puzzling at number 1 — unless it’s changed a lot in the last couple of years, I’d have Incheon at the top, ahead by a mile. That’s a hell of an airport and honestly in a class of its own for facilities.

Not surprised Dubai doesn’t make the cut, however shiny the terminals are. I had to spend a 12-hour plus layover there once. In contrast to Incheon or Hong Kong, definitely not a good place to do that.

Only real head-scratcher here is Frankfurt. That’s a terrible airport in my experience. And I wonder about Heathrow being on the list at all. Definitely no way it should be ahead of Schiphol. But again, not a bad list on the whole.
