Interesting....I didnt know there was a voice-alert telling you how much runway was remaining!! Thats neat :)

Yeah, I'd not heard (pardon the pun) of that before. DME wouldn't be accurate enough (+/-0.25nm + 1.25%). GPS could be, but then the problem with GPS is at any one moment you don't know if it is telling the truth. Possibly extra hardware in the a/c and the airport?

I think its a Jeppesen database coupled with GPS that enable runway-remaining alerts.But then again Im not sure...perhaps a bizzjet or airline pilot will come on here and tell us!:)
