Error with Little NavMap checking for updates

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This is on a new installation of Little NavMap on starting up the application I get error message saying Error while checking for updates at "https://albar965.github,io/littlenavmap-version":Error creating SSL context ().

This happens on my client PC but not my Flying PC.  If I enter the URL directly into my web browser is download the file.

Any ideas of what is happening?

Thanks

Windows 10,  but I checked and I've got 2015 only installed and falsely assumed that will suffice.  I'll install the 2013 ones and see how I go.

Thanks

Rick

Hi Alex,

I know it is an old one. I get a similar error message:

Error while checking for updates at

"https://albar965.github.io/littlenavmap-version":

SSL handshake failed

The log does not give me much info...
Maybe that one, crypro library...

[2022-12-30 9:24:30.569 DEBUG]: Cannot load library crypto: (crypto: Kann die Shared-Object-Datei nicht öffnen: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden)
[2022-12-30 9:24:30.569 DEBUG]: loaded library "crypto"

And:

[2022-12-30 9:24:37.942 INFO ]: void UpdateHandler::checkForUpdates(UpdateHandler::UpdateReason) Checking for updates now. Channels QFlags(0x1) already checked ""
[2022-12-30 9:24:37.942 DEBUG]: void atools::util::UpdateCheck::checkForUpdates(const QString&, bool, atools::util::UpdateChannels) QUrl("https://albar965.github.io/littlenavmap-version") "2.8.7"

LNM 2.8.7
Ubuntu 22.10 (I know, 22.04 is supported, but maybe it helps :-)

Not a big deal, I can manually check for updates.
Just want to inform you.

BR,
Mathias

Forget my last proposal. It does not work. I removed the post.

The problem is not only updates but this means that all network communication including online map tile downloads will fail.

I just found out that there is an issue in the Linux build.

Edit: You have to install openssl 1.1 in the system.

Edit 2: Here is a hotfix: https://github.com/albar965/littlenavmap/releases/download/v2.8.7/LittleNavmap-linux-22.04-2.8.7-openssl-1.1.tar.gz

You're welcome and thank you for the feedback. I'll correct this for the next build.
All the best for the New Year!
