Dx10 meant to improve VAS?!

Hi, I purchased Dx10 fixer so my vas would increase as I have good fps and no blurries but I constantly run out of VAS. I heard that Dx10 puts some of the load onto my GPU ( I have a GTX 1060 6GB) and purchased to try it out. I installed the libraries added this tweak to put the load actually onto the GPU:

and started up the sim (FSX-Boxed-Gold) I run orbx, but not high and decided to use the Aerosoft airbus A321 at Heathrow. This was my beefy test and knew if I could get above 50% VAS, I love die in happiness,  but was getting only 19% VAS, which gave me big stutters! Have I assumed wrong that Steve's fixer, fixes VAS or am I missing something?

I don't recall DX10Fixer being marketed as reducing VAS consumption; it will improve visuals (self shadowing in virtual cockpit for example) and can leverage the graphics a little more than vanilla DX9 FSX, but ultimately you are still loading the same files in to memory using the same engine. As Bert said, 64 bit (P3Dv4) is the true VAS/OOM fix but even P3Dv3 was better at ditching stuff it no longer needed from virtual memory compared.

The fixer itself doesn’t have anything at all to do with VAS.  However it does allows you to run dx10 preview  without the various artifacts  that otherwise occur.   It also allows you to have VC shadows and run bloom at minimal cost,

Most people report an improvement of a few hundred MB from using dx10preview compared with dx9 which can make the difference between completing a flight and getting an OOM.  As this has nothing to do with the fixer I don’t make any claims on the subject.

VAS also has no connection with stutters it’s a black and white thing you either have free memory or you don’t and fsx crashes.

I wouldn’t personally try messing with bufferpools , swap timeout, max batching jobs, small part radius  etc they either do nothing or just cause issues. I would suggest you remove all those tweaks.

the two common  mistakes with the fixer are converting all effects which may cause issues with particle effects and or using 32 bit water textures.

What are the  effects you reccommend  converting  ?

The options are lights only, all but particles or all.  I suggest using one of the first two. If you then have any issues convert the problem effect as a special,effect ( see manual)
