Display Resolution and Nvidia 980 vs 1080ti

Recommended Posts

Upgraded monitor to 34" and running 3440 x 1440 resolution with Nvidia 980. Set Prepar3D 4 to run the same resolution and now getting the stutters (good frame rates before). Will upgrading the card to Nvidia 1080TI make a difference or should I drop the display resolution settings in Prepar3D? Thanks to all in advance.

I don't think the GPU is the source, I've run a 4K display on both a 980Ti and 1080Ti's... of course the 1080 performs better but stutters is not an issue I had with the 980.

Agree with Dan. 1080ti will be better but GPU usually not the cause of stutters.

Just curious, but have you got VSync enabled in the settings, I had no end of stuttering with P3DV4 so I methodically went through all my settings and found that at some stage I had  VSnc OFF, and triple buffering unchecked, once I turned it on and ticked triple buffering, stutters gone. My screen res is 2560 x 1440 with a GTX1060.

Texture resolution reset to High instead of Ultra. VSync is on and triple buffering is checked. Smooth as silk displaying 3340 x 1440. So the problem was in the Ultra setting which I guess is too ambitious for the GTX 980. Won't have to worry about how I plead a case for the 1080ti to the minister of finance ....just yet 🙂

I have a 1080Ti and play with a 2560x1440 resolution in P3d + a 2nd monitor for charts etc.

Flying the the fslabs a320 i get very good fps, between 30 and 50 and a bit more with the qw 787. The 1080Ti will allow you more eye candy, like  high quality shadows, dynamic reflections or dynamic lights at night.

The latest update in graphic drivers seems to have brought some stability in terms of fps, less spikes down to 20 every few seconds
