III was my favourite - I loved the national borders, no more enemy troops sneakying freely through your territory.

Ken, we're not married by any chance, i.e. you're not posting under a pseudonym? I got my wife Civ III in a fancy tin box with all the bells and whistles, and she keeps on playing Civ II. Another games you could try is Rome: total war that game is awesome :)Has both a turn based part and a really well made rts fighting part with full sieges and everything.
