Installation of Reality XP Garmin GTN 650 in X-Plane 11

Featured Replies

I am interested in purchasing the new Reality XP Garmin GTN 650 for X-Plane 11, but I am a little concerned about the installation process.

Could somebody briefly describe how the GTN 650 installation process works?  Is the documentation that comes with the software adequate even for people that do not have much experience in this type of issues?

Also, could the Reality XP Garmin GTN 650 be installed on more than one of the aircrafts available in X-Plane 11?T

Thanks

I suggest you take this question over to the X-Plane part of the RXP forums 😊

Think you'll find more X-Plane users there 😉

Hi Charles,

The product installs plugins to your choice of XP11, XP10 and XP9, and adds a 'plugin' menu. You might want to review the User's Manual freely available from our web site home page for additional plugin details too!

Once installed, the menu offers a list of device you can activate in the current aircraft (live, in-sim). This automatically creates a popup window and saves your settings to the aircraft folder. These will be loaded and restored the next time your load this aircraft.

For 3D panels, XPlane SDK doesn't yet offer the necessary tools for 'click-and-add' type of configuration. You might want to read the following guide for the GNS V2 which give you a good idea of the process:

Otherwise, there is an increasing number of third party aircraft vendor pre-configuring their aircraft with a RXP GTN / GNS V2 option too!
