PTA Preset Switch/Change

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I’ve been considering adding PTA to my list of addons, especially after viewing many of the previews presented here in the forum. All very nice!

However, one question.. what would the process be to switch from 1set of presets to a completely different group? Does it require resetting the shaders, etc. back to default P3D, and then applying the new set? Or can 1 set simply be replaced by installing the other set?

Thx,

mike

That's an easy one to answer!

Just come out of P3D, apply your chosen (new) preset, and restart P3D. Each time you Apply a preset (from within PTA), it automatically clears the shaders cache (in Windows/user) and rewrites around a dozen key files in your ShadersHLSL folder (in P3D root). Your original P3D shaders files (in ShadersHLSL) are backed up for safe keeping, just the once, the first time you run PTA.

You can only have one preset loaded/active at once, so any "grouping" is purely for ease of identification.

Adam.

Hi Adam,,

Thank You for the clear response. Seems like a painless process, which is always good.

Quite painless. After so many years of constantly tweaking FSX, I must admit I feel a little strange when there's so little to do in P3D. I often feel I'm missing something - it was such a habit. I compensate by concentrating my unhealthy urges into PTA! Even so ... once I've set up a new preset, I can go for weeks (even months) without even touching that. I suppose I'll just have to get used to it 😄!

Sorry, I am also new here ... From where can I get presets that are working with 2.62 (P3Dv4.3). The preset mega thread is not very helpful in this regard. It was also mentioned somewhere else, that a new UI is planned which will have a download function for current presets. Is this true?

You must have missed the little logo in my signature then 😉

Or ... http://www.nzfsim.org/index.php?dsp=PTA

There are a couple of other big contributors - of which any by Gerard (do a search) are highly recommended.

Adam.
