The haze effect

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Did someone else noticed the haze effect is mostly horizontal? What i mean is, from ground level up FL350 or higher the haze will always be at some distance from the plane but never below it. Is it P3D limitations or is possible to modify something ?

Isn't that how haze works in Real Life? Horizontally, you may be looking along/through many miles/km of haze, whereas vertically downwards would be a much shorter distance/volume of air to see through <?>. Same thing if you were on the ground and looked directly UP as opposed to horizontally, towards  the horizon.

Or do you mean *fog*?

Isnt haze and fog are more or less same effect ? And whats really the difference between haze and rayleigh scattering ?

I don't think so - not the way PTA treats them, anyway.

Rayleigh scattering - haze that consists of scattering from atmospheric gases. This type of scattering is therefore wavelength dependent. As the wavelength decreases, the amount of scattering increases. Because of Rayleigh scattering, the sky appears blue. It causes the colors of the sky like blue and red ( dawn/dusk ). It also causes the blue haze looking in the distance.

Haze - occurs in the lower portion of the atmosphere when the particles are much larger than the incident radiation. This type of scattering is not wavelength dependent and is the primary cause of haze. It looks white.
