I've looked at the keyboard assignments in P3D, and that is currently assigned to Ctrl+Shift+F4, and that is what Carenado suggested to me previously. I tried it and it didn't work.

YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS... I have finally got it working!  🙂 🙂 I don't know how. I will continue testing to see if anything goes wrong. I can't see what I've done so differently!  I REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYONE'S HELP ON THIS.  I feel like flying to Hawaii (in real life!)...

Well, I have something to add too. Planenut, you were right, I stand corrected. I just finished another flight and felt around with the mouse very, very carefully and, sure enough, there is a spot that says fuel valve shut down or something like that and it worked! But boy is it finicky!

 

Gaz, I hope this means you got her flying. Good luck with it!

If anyone is interested, I can't explain why it wouldn't work, but I now know how to get it working:

  1. when I first loaded the aircraft, I simply, launched it straight from the New Scenario screen. I used shift+8 to switch to cold + dark, then saved the as a new scenario. I followed the instructions given to me on YouTube, but I couldn't get the engines to work, and opened this discussion and eventually a call to Carenado
  2. the instructions from Carenado were to start with the aircraft Maule Orion, and move the fuel shutoff valve to BOTH (that seemed to turn it's engines off), then return to the Premier, press Ctrl+Shift+F4, then go through my instructions from YouTube. Again, no good.
  3. I then tried something slightly new, in that I loaded up the default scenario in P3D, with the aircraft's engines running, and left it that way. When the scenario was loaded, leaving the engines running, I then changed the aircraft to the Premier and I again used shift+8 to set it to cold + dark. My instructions then worked! I didn't have to do anything with the advice from Carenado.

I don't really understand it , but if I save the scenario on point 3 as soon as the aircraft has been set to cold+dark, for some reason, the aircraft loads up in the scenario the next time with the throttles at idle, not cutoff!  Not that this was a problem - as soon as I load up the scenario, I cutoff the throttles, and the whole thing works.

Sorry if that wasn't interesting, but I seem to have it all up and running now - not that I've gotten it off the ground yet. Now more training!

Its a bug in Carenado's premier 390. Its not fully compatible with P3d V4 yet. Its been that way for years. they dont provide tech support and probaly never will. Sorry. I just gave up myself.

I am running the P1 in P3d 4.4. Yes, the fuel selectors are a very finicky depending on the aircraft from which you load the P1, but it is definitely possible to run in 4.4 and to get it running. 

Just follow the same procedures as above, but at the "hung start," if you get it, just press ctrl + shift + F4. That's the keyboard shortcut for full rich mixture. The engines will light off now. Then, if you continue to fly the P1, shut down at your landing, and subsequently restart, the engines respond to the fuel cutoff buttons on the bottom of the throttles. 

It looks like the P1 is holding the state of the aircraft you were in prior to the P1.

FWIW, I have been flying the P1 since it came out... starts every time for me... When I load it, I use their selection screen for cold and dark, then fire it up using my home made switch panel for starter activation and to open the fuel valves. Works every time. I am running v4.4, BTW.

Of course, now that I said that, the next time it probably won't work... 😬

After my p3d flight loads with the Premier 1, I immediately press Shift+8 and select Cold and Dark. Shift+6 and turn on GPU.  Push Battery on.  Both ignition switches on. ECU Switches On. Select the Engine 1 Start button (yellow button below ECU). Once the N1 reaches 12.0 click the little black tab below the throttle to move the throttle 1 to idle.  Once N1 hits 20.0 it will fire.  Select Engine 2 Start button, wait for 12.0 on N1, then click black tab on throttle 2 to move to idle. Turn on Generators.  Turn on avionics. Move Bleed Air to On. Shift+6 and turn off GPU.
