RAF Centenary Flypast, London

Recommended Posts

The Royal Air Force is celebrating its centenary this year.  As part of the commemorative events, the RAF today laid on a massive flypast over central London. It was said to have been a once-in-a-lifetime gathering of close to 100 aircraft, all currently in service and included the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (which is part of the RAF) and, of course, the Red Arrows.  I took my family and my camera. Unfortunately it was under a quite grey overcast so the pictures weren't as good as they might have been, but some were still worth it, especially the last two.

Helicopters everywhere.... (Pumas and Chinooks)

Outstanding!    I heard a rumor that they were flying near Chelmsford but have not heard from any actual witnesses yet. 😊

Excellent shots Nick !!
There are some videos (w/ July 10th dates) over at Facebook, being a "page", don't think a sign-in is necessary, showing the "muster up" & others prior to the flyover. https://www.facebook.com/royalairforcebrizenorton/videos/

The buggers went over about 5 miles further north west. A little band of use gathered on the green, all expecting them to take their normal course...We were all gutted, we only got pathetic glimpses of them.
