That "new" Trees Graphics option in P3d....

Recommended Posts

Should I enable it ?  Does it mean speed-trees are used instead and I can expect some optimization when I enable trees and autogen ?

Or should I leave it unticked ?

What about the ORBX FTX Global trees option ? Is it a good choice or not for a low end PC ?

Thx !

Don't tick it Jose', it will give you FPS grief.

Going from normal p3d trees to orbx trees, I noticed a little boost in fps about 5 fps.

Don't use them, at least not yet. More performance intensive and they look awful. They have this colour that doesn't really seem to blend in with the terrain. Use either TerraFlora or OrbX's trees.

Just a note to say that FTX Trees HD does nothing for Speed Trees (Dynamic 3D Autogen Vegetation option in the sim), it replaces the textures on the conventional autogen trees only.

Can't say I noticed any difference with Trees HD in terms of performance, they are twice the resolution of defaults so if anything they might cause a very slight drop. Speed Trees are a whole other matter and apparently quite FPS heavy.

Yes you have to un-tick the box.

P3D managed to do something awful to speed-trees, which are very very good in other programs. I can only recommend to avoid the setting.
