August 7, 20187 yr Here are a few en-route screenshots for a flight between Sydney (YSSY) and Melbourne (YMML) in the largest of the Lockheed constellations (aircraft thanks to Manfred Jahn/Team). I used, here, the Lufthansa 1957 colors of this iconic aircraft. I have some personal bias for the constellation because of the opportunity I'd to visit on board the (restored) L-1049 (TWA Constellation) at the KC Airline History Museum. That plane was flown from Mesa, AZ (airplane graveyard) to KC by a dedicated group of volunteers. While visiting the airplane, I'd asked my guide, "How did you manage to get this plane here?". He said, "IFR", and then after a pause, added, "I Follow Roads"! Today, I read somewhere that, in the crew's words, “The further she got away from the junkyard, the better she flew!” For this flight, I'm using Orbx(AU) and REX, and I'm tracking the coastline of the "island" continent. Thanks for viewing these pictures of this nostalgic aircraft - regarded as grand finale of the golden age of prop-liner aviation.
August 7, 20187 yr Very nice. Challenge to fly too. I wish A2A would add this plane to their Connie stable.
August 7, 20187 yr Author Yes, it was probably the most beautiful airliner to ever to grace the skies. I understand there are now only 3-4 examples left, one of which, interestingly the one in these pictures, is recently taken up by Lufthansa Technik for restoration. And, of course, a realistic (high-fidelity) SIM of this aircraft would be so marvelous. Thanks guys!
